I'm a musician in Richmond, VA. My primary instruments are guitar, lapsteel and dobro, though I gig and record on piano, banjo, mandolin, upright bass, drums, autoharp and fiddle. For almost 30 years I've played nearly every style of American music - blues, jazz, country, rock 'n roll, bluegrass, old-time, soul, funk, black gospel, and rhythm and blues. Any notoriety I might have would probably come from my association with Austin singer/songwriter Slaid Cleaves, whom I've known since around 1988. Toured the US, Canada, and UK with him and have recorded on most of his albums. I've also toured a little with Wayne 'the Train' Hancock(rockabilly, country) and Caroline Herring (folk). In Richmond I play with lots of people but my primary groups are 'Johnny Hott's Piedmont Souprize', 'Chez Roue', 'Page Wilson and Reckless Abandon',and 'the Big Payback'. I've opened solo for a lot of national acts coming through town, and in the Spring 2008 I will release my first solo CD. I also teach guitar, banjo, mandolin, and harmonica at the University of Richmond. For booking or lessons contact me at
