About Me

Terry and Cindy Baucom are both from North Carolina. Cindy hosts the nationally syndicated radio show, "Knee-Deep In Bluegrass" distributed by the John Boy and Billy Radio Network and Terry plays banjo and sings bass and baritone, most recently with Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver.Terry Baucom grew up in Monroe, North Carolina. He got his first banjo at age 10. He played locally in a band with his father, 'The Rocky River Boys'. His first professional job was with Charlie Moore on fiddle. Terry was a founding member of 'Boone Creek' with Ricky Skaggs and Jerry Douglas. He was also a founding member of' Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver' in 1979. He was with 'Quicksilver' until 1985 and rejoined the band in 2003 ('Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver' are 6-time winners of the IBMA Vocal Group of the Year Award). Terry was a founding member of' IIIrd Tyme Out' in the early 90's. He teamed up with Lou Reid to form 'Lou Reid, Terry Baucom & Carolina' (1994 IBMA Emerging Artist of the Year). Terry wrote the instrumental, "Knee-Deep In Bluegrass" which is the theme song of Cindy's nationally syndicated radio show. For the remainder of the year, Terry will be playing select dates with both the Kenny & Amanda Smith Band and The Mark Newton Band.Cindy Baucom grew up in West Jefferson, North Carolina. She started singing very early in life. She was playing piano by the age of 9. Around 14, she started playing guitar. At 15, she joined her father's band, playing bass. Her Bluegrass Radio Career began at the age of 17. Cindy's show, "Knee-Deep In Bluegrass" went into syndication in 2003. She was named the IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association) Broadcaster of the Year in 2005 and also serves on the IBMA Membership Commitee and the IBMA Education Committee.

Band Members: Most recently Terry toured and recorded with Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver and can be heard on the band’s latest recording on Rounder Records, "More Behind The Picture Than The Wall". His professional career includes work with Charlie Moore, Boone Creek, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, IIIrd Tyme Out, Lou Reid Terry Baucom & Carolina and BlueRidge. Terry is currently working on a solo CD with many surprises. The new instructional Banjo DVD is now available on the John Boy & Billy label. Cindy has performed with a variety of regional bands in the past, but her current focus is on her radio show and assisting Terry with his Banjo projects. Terry is booking a limited number of Banjo Workshops for the remainder of this year. Cindy emcees a number of Music Festivals throughout the year.
