About Me

I have been a musician since age 6. I learned guitar at a very young age. I soon after learned to play bass, mandolin, banjo, piano, and drums by ear. I now focus on lead electric guitar. I have built a custom guitar rig that incorporates 3 midi guitar synthesizers, as well as 4 killer amp heads. It's like the best of both worlds. Check out the pics. I Grew up listening to Bluegrass. My family had a well-known Bluegrass band of the 70's & 80's(The Boys From Indiana). I started doing sound as a kid(12)yrs old. My grandpa then sold his small sound company to Jerry Williamson, of Bluegrass recognition.I worked with Jerry for 5 or 6 yrs, then went to play Bass for Larry Stephenson. I left Larry after a couple years in '93 to pursue a record deal with my own band (Quartermile). I co-founded the band Quartermile in 1991. We have had great success on the local front (Cincinnati). We have been fortunate enough to open for many Country and Rock artists such as Little Texas, Marty Stuart, Collin Raye, Jo Dee Messina, Mark Wills, and Billy Ray Cyrus to name a few at shows like The Taste of Cincinnati, Chilifest, and other outdoor festivals. In the original band my brother Joe and 2 of my best friends (Paul Elliott, and Eric Ginder) were a Country-oriented group with tight 3 part harmony vocals, ala Diamond Rio/Blackhawk. We recorded 4 demo projects between '94 and '97. Although we were not successful in landing a deal, we continued playing with the original line-up until '03. We took a 2 yr break, and reformed on '05. My brother is no longer a part of the group, but we brought in an awesome female lead vocalist (Kristen, aka KJ) , that rocks , and my nephew (Mini-me) , is now part of the group to keep the harmony alive. We now play mostly outdoor festivals and private events. We are a very technology oriented group in the fact that we use a state-of-the-art computer system live in our shows that we can manage our sound and instruments with, as well as provide additional instrumentation and vocals that we create ourselves. This technology is seen in most major Artist tours, but is not common for many local bands. This has enabled us to perform any song or combination that we can dream up. There is also a great entertainment value, as we have a full arsenal of sound effects at our fingertips. We are very entertainment oriented, (quite the practical jokers), and believe in putting on a show, rather than just playing songs on stage. Now, we're just having fun doing Classic Rock, and the occasional Country Ballad. I freelance every sound job I can get my hands on.I have had the privelage over the last 21 years to run live sound for many bluegrass concerts including artists such as Bill Monroe, The Osborne Brothers, Jim and Jesse, Porter Wagner,Jimmy C Newman, Charlie Waller, Ralph Stanley, and Rhonda Vincent, just to name a few. I enjoy being a part of the scene. I have most recently been seen on the Bluegrass scene playing bass on some dates with the successful Bluegrass group 3 FOX DRIVE. It is truly a blast, and they are some of the best singers and songwriters in the business. By day, I'm a not-so mild-mannered Route Supervisor at a successful Trash Disposal company. This allows me to be around one of my favorite things(trucks), and work with people and help them with their problems. Oddly enough, I enjoy it. It's definitely not as bad as it sounds. Or I wouldn't have spent the last 14 years doing it!!
