After several nights playing song ideas to each other over the phone, it became obvious there was a huge amount of potential that needed to be explored. As the number of free minutes dwindled, the decision was made to meet up in Glasgow where the flow of ideas would not be restricted by the crackle of a mobile's loudspeaker.

At that point in time, Dale was busy studying sound engineering in Glasgow, while Allan was paying for his sins working at a call centre in Bedfordshire. Having met each other through a mutual friend back in South Africa, they stayed in touch while travelling in the UK.

Once it was decided that Allan would join Dale in sunny Glasgow, Allan's trusty steed, the uber-reliable Peugeot 106, promptly died only a matter of days before he was due to leave. A rental was drafted in, and besides spending 45 minutes getting lost in Glasgow, the move was complete and journey had begun.

Results were instantaneous. Bags were hardly unpacked, and already there were enough songs for a 'best of' album, let alone a debut E.P. But man cannot live on bread alone..literally! Money needed to be made and that resulted in an ever-growing list of arbitrary jobs. From modelling kilts to bottling whisky, the bank balance was bolstered in any way possible. As a result, time had become a precious commodity. Their focus shifted to perfecting the songs that would eventually feature on their debut E.P.

Five songs were chosen, rehearsed and showcased to an unsuspecting Roddy MacIlwraith. As an up and coming producer, Roddy immediately got himself involved and volunteered his knob twisting skills to help produce their album. Over the next few months a lot of progress would be made. Allan and Dale relocated to the west end of Glasgow and across the hall from Roddy. Their flats became a recording studio, relying on a plethora of cables running across the hallway. In between earning a living, some well received gigs and maintaining an increasingly popular 'MySpace' site, every spare moment was spent creating The Artists Merge, AllanDale's debut E.P.

After almost a year of absolute dedication, the first single 'Misunderstood', was released as a free download on the 'Futcha Records' label. The response was nothing short of remarkable. Thousands have downloaded the single and continue to do so. With unmitigated praise for their first release, and the album due out soon, it would be safe to say those free minutes were well spent.
