About Me

Stevie Ray Vaughan is thought by some to be one of the greatest and most influential blues/rock guitarists. Despite his tragic death, his music lives on forever.Stevie was born in October 1954, he began playing guitar at the age of 8, under the influence of his brother, Jimmie. Besides his brother, Stevie was heavily influenced by Albert King, who later dubbed himself as his "godfather," as well as Jimi Hendrix, who served as a messiah to Stevie. By age 17, Stevie dropped out of high school to pursue a career in music. In 1981, he formed the power trio, "Double Trouble," which came to be his most popular group. With Chris Layton and Tommy Shannon (and Reese Wyans who joined in 1985) at his side, they rose to fame and pleased millions of people with their powerful music.Sadly, even after overcoming drug and alcohal addiction and rebuilding family relationships, Stevie was killed in a helocopter accident, shortly after midnight on August 27. Stevie touched so many with his incredible guitar mastery and his big soulful voice. This page was created in memory of Stevie Ray Vaughan. Thank you Stevie for influencing so many in such little time.
