, I am Trans Female...I’m a natural redhead.. a Virgo..life partnered)..so now to the bio..reads from page.."Since 1978,Ginger (formerly Blair) Seaboyer has played
with over 40 different bands, in every genre possible..
punk,rockabilly,bluegrass,rock,country,top 40,funk,blues,
jump swing and fusion,most notably with Willy Hop,Vox Violins,
Squeezeplay,Big Ethyl,Glen Francis Wenham ( the Dark),Bethia,the
Aaron MacDonald Band and the John Campbelljohn Trio.
To John she is grateful for the privilege of touring Europe;
(Austria Netherlands Italy Sardenia Sicily Germany and Switzerland)
and also the famed Montreal Jazz Fest and Festiblues.
There were also tours of western Canada .
Born in
Halifax Nova Scotia September 14th 1960,her parents and doctor had assumed before birth that she was female,and thus had all pink clothes and painted walls waiting for her.The name Dawn Adele was the first name picked,then changed to Blair as it was discovered upon birth her sex was male.She does however remember at 5 or younger, trying to wear Moms shoes,wanting to be like Mom,not Dad.Blair spent early years as a bit of a recluse,an honors student often uncomfortable with the mentality of males
,feeling apart
and knowing that there
was something a little different about herself..
As soon as it were possible she
began to lose herself in music,at first as
a guitarist,then after watching The Guess Who
on television(specifically Jim Kale) became a bassist.
On her 16th birthday infamous Nova Scotia bassist
Rob Matheson,who had become a friend and mentor ,gave her
Weather Reports "Heavy Weather" and Jaco’s debut
LP as gifts.That night she took a pair of
needle nose pliers to her Hagstrom bass and defretted it
never to play a fretted bass again.
Glam rock was the thing of the day and David Bowie was a definite influence.The name Ginger Lee was decided on around 17,from Ginger Rogers (and of course Ginger Grant of Gilligans Island !) By 17 she had joined a punk
rock group named The Defects,and found the platform in
which to dress and be her true self..Thus Ginger Lee
had her debut.(Punk History Canada,Halifax,The Defects)
A disturbing and distasteful incident in 1980 (rape)caused her to
hide her gentle soul behind a tough "male" exterior
for 20 years .During this time ,however,she bought
her damaged psyche the 21st birthday gift of her beloved
Rickenbacker 4002 fretless,now thought to be one of two ever made, and thereafter committed her life to music.For 22 years she played all over the Maritime Canadian provinces,usually with blues groups or rock bands.After leaving the John Campbelljohn Trio in 2004,she began working with her younger brother Darren for Irving Oil as a rigger on a boom truck.While working with him in January of 2005,he had his heart literally dissect in front of her,and she realized the
frailty and shortness of life,and that no matter the cost,
she had to be true to herself and be who she truly is.
The road to this goal has been a slow winding path,but she has
lived fulltime in her identified gender and
been on monitored Hormonal Therapy since January of 2006.Currently trying to restart her career ,she has a few projects in development,and last year has been blessed in meeting
her true twinflame and soulmate Donna Simone Plamondon,also a bassist (now fretless as well),and is
currently seeking gigs and teaching music in Bedford Nova Scotia.
Ginger also has just been hired by Atlantic Wholesalers/Superstore/Loblaws and is currently the first Transgendered person to be employed by them nationally.Her
gender status with the company is female, and she is treated as thus by
