About Me

Ginger Dee Davis is from Omaha, Nebraska and grew up in a very musical family. Her father, Richard "Big Hank" Davis was a popular drummer in the 60's and 70's and their childhood home often served as the "rehearsal spot". Ginger and her two sisters would play around on the bands equipment after-school and soon began playing real music, with Ginger taking after her dad and playing drums. Ginger would also experiment with and listen closely to Daddy's LP's/eight-track/and "component" set with styles ranging from Jazz/Funk/R&B and Country. She quickly developed an astute ear for all styles of music and began DJ'ing via old-school belt driven turntables when the current DJ was unable to continue. By age 17, Ginger Dee was one of the most popular Emcee's/Club DJ's in the Midwest and quickly had the highest rated weekend show on popular radio.By the age of 18, Ginger Dee became so proficient at drumming, she began playing around town, giving up radio and eventually hit the road with an all-female group called "Destiny - The All-Female Band".Recently, Ginger Dee has enjoyed tremendous success with her weekend radio show, "Jazz Vibes w/Ginger Dee" on WCLK Atlanta 91.9fm.Ginger is currently working with a cover band in Atlanta called "Contagious" (www.thecontagiousband.com) and is currently writing music with several artist as well as promoting shows and concert events. She was recently inducted into the Omaha Black Music Hall of Fame. www.omahablackmusic.com
