About Me

There's a lot of gay fiction out there. I'm not good at fiction. There's a lot of historical gay non-fiction out there, but it all seems to be about 80s, about life after AIDS appeared on the scene. The 70s seem to be forgotten in gay memoir, but I lived through it and loved it. So I'm creating a series of non-fiction short stories about gay life before the plague. One has already been published in an Alyson Books collection called Bar Stories. It was called, "My First Pick-up Line." You can still find copies of the anthology through amazon.com. I've written (so far) sixteen more, with two more currently in production. You can find them all here (the completed ones, that is) Ethan's Stories Oh, and unlike some recent, um, "memoirs," everything is true. I haven't even changed the names. My Interests

writing, movies (watching, collection and creating), music (especially re-mixes and anything that makes me feel like I'm at a club), Macs, travel, reading, friends I can share these things with. Stories: Ethan's Stories

I'd like to meet:

anyone into the interests listed below and in my writing. Would love to share ideas especially with those into short story and non-fiction memoir writing. Also, as you can see from my music tastes, I like things new and/or that which radio doesn't play. (Only listen to radio for NPR news really.) Love to discover other's music interests.

Music:

Current favorites (thank you, iTunes!) (and Logo!) Dangerous Muse, Adam Joseph, Adam Barta, Khalid Rivera, Jonathan Mendelsohn Mario Vasquez, Ken Y, Calle 13, Kumbia Kings (even though I know very little Spanish! but I LOVE MTV Tr3s!) and, of course, Jason and deMarco Classic gay dance/pop - Jimmy Somerville!

Movies:

Beautiful Thing, Stand by Me, Dead Poets Society, Latter Days, The Trip, Sommersturm, Two of Us, The History Boys, the Eating Out films, various gay short-film anthologies

Television:

Most everything on LOGO (Rick & Steve, New/Now/Next and, of course, The Click List. And all the repeats of CSI and L&O on cable. And MTV Tr3s, of course. DeGrassi (just got around to ordering the 3rd season - I'll catch up eventually)

Books:

Just finished Lance Bass' memoir; read lots of memoirs, non-fiction, short stories. Recommend Robert LeLoux's "Memoirs of a Beautiful Boy." Hilarious and touching.
