I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

My name is Travis, which means "crossroads" and was derived from the word "traverse" meaning "to cross". Personally, I believe that my name is a true reflection of who I am because I've faced many challenges and obstacles throughout my 23 years of life. I have transcended years of poverty, illness, child abuse, physical violence, addiction, obesity, eating disorders, loneliness, discrimination, repression, depression and anxiety. I'm a survivor and have come a long way, baby! I am NOT a victim.
My life is just beginning. I have many dreams, goals and plans for my future, which include being a successful high fashion model, becoming a registered dietitian and writing my autobiography. I aspire to become a more patient, self-disciplined and well-rounded person. I've become more confident and comfortable with my sexuality and realize that I can do anything that I set my mind to. You can, too! I just have to believe. As do you! (Disclaimer: This is NOT an infomercial! haha)
I want to help and educate the many malnourished, dehydrated individuals that are falling into the abyss of oblivion and slowly killing themselves day by day by not drinking enough water and by consuming processed foods containing refined sugar, chemicals and other dangerous additives. You would not believe how many people I've met that never eat natural, wholesome food and never drink pure, clean water. The records are astonishing! As a very impressionable teenager, I suffered from hypertension and prediabetes as a result of my obesity. In the midst of my health crisis, I also began experiencing symptoms of hypoglycemia, a.k.a. low blood sugar. Despite being totally familiar with my family history, my incompetent physician at the time didn't suggest a glucose tolerance test. So, yours truly suffered with the symptoms for 3 1/2 years before finally being diagnosed by an endocrinologist in December of 2003. The reason I'm explaining this to you? I want to prevent others from experiencing this situation. Anyway, I have faith that with proper nutrition, exercise and stress management, my hypoglycemia will go into remission someday.
The reason for writing an autobiography should be pretty self-explanatory...I have a LOT to say!
I'd consider myself to be the quintessential Gemini: passionate, intuitive, sensitive & a source of information, especially pertaining to music. Generally, I would describe myself as the following: a nonconformist, ambitious, androgynous, a risk taker, charming, creative, ditzy but...(see below), flamboyant, flirtatious, high maintenance, health conscious, honest, hyper(especially after a few glasses of wine), intelligent, introspective, musical, opinionated, romantic, spontaneous, very outspoken, quirky, witty, etc. I'm also an advocate of human rights.
Some more random facts: I'm proud to state that I am of English, French, German, Irish, Cherokee Indian, African, Mediterranean & Japanese ancestry. I'd like to be fluent in French someday. My favourite CD of all time is "Interiors" by Rosanne Cash. If you don't own it, you should. I graduated high school on my mother's birthday. I've never smoked a cigarette in my life. I donate items to a non-profit organization regularly. I like peanut butter and raisin sandwiches. (Don't knock it 'til you try it.) "Adagio Sostenuto" from Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven is one of my personal favourite instrumentals. I've not learned how to tie a cherry stem with my tongue yet but appreciate anyone that has this special ability. Oil Of Olay recently discontinued my favourite bar of soap for sensitive skin but fortunately, I've discovered a more gentle soap scented with essential oils from the River Soap Company(www.riversoap.com) and I love it. I guess I'm prone to gushing and rambling on about soap, which brings me to my next random fact: I smell good. *wink* If you'd like to chat with me, let's become acquainted. What's on your mind? Feel free to send me a message and I'll do my best to reply. Thank you for checking out my page!
Favourite Quotes:
"As soon as a guy tells me what we're going to do tonight, I tell him what we're not going to do." - Stevie Nicks
"Well, that's really the story of my life. That's the story of, especially of the last three years of my life and I, uh, I think I wrote that song because sometimes, I get tired of people telling me their opinions of what I do because I wanna say, you have no idea what I live with. You have no idea what my life is like. You have no idea the responsibilities that I feel to people or the guilt that I carry around with me or how much I want to please everybody and how hard I try to please everybody and make everybody happy. It's very difficult. I mean, it's aging and uh, "doing the best I can" sort of says "Get off my back", basically. I'm doing the best that I can and I have been doing the best I can for as long as I can remember so either give me a break or leave me alone." - Stevie Nicks, describing her song "Doing The Best I Can(Escape From Berlin)", 1989
"Let me tell you something: a Caesar salad, a good steak and a good fuck. What else is there?" - Carnie Wilson
"If you are a beautiful woman who got fat, you are treated not like someone who got overweight, but like someone who has killed schoolbuses full of children." - Linda Bloodworth-Thomason
"Bottom line: I adore models. I think we deserve our own planet, a Model World with soft lighting twenty-four hours a day and full-length mirrors on every corner. In Model World, McDonald's and Burger King would be replaced with drive-thru veggie stands, and free moisturizer would come at the end of dinner instead of free mints. Every bedsheet would be 300-count-plus; every meal would be low-fat; every sunny day would begin with a hot cabana boy showing up at your casa with a bottle of personally calibrated sunscreen and a smile. President Dolce and VP Gabbana would only lead their nation to war over the really serious issues-like ensuring adequate supplies on high-quality foreign leather for Manolo Blahnik's new fall line." - Janice Dickinson
"I had the arrogance to think I could be a social drinker." - Elizabeth Taylor
"Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels." - Oprah Winfrey
"You have really pretty eyes." - (You know who you are.)
My short-term goals/objectives:
* To find a job in the hospitality industry, a hotel front desk clerk position, to be specific
* To decorate my bedroom
* To continue committing to a healthier lifestyle by beginning an exercise regimen, jogging
* To compile a modeling portfolio
* To become more outgoing and assertive
My long-term goals/objectives:
* To relocate out of Kentucky, for good
* To fully recover from my hypoglycemia, asthma, depression and anxiety
* To pursue a career in modeling
