RADIO COUNTRY REVIEWS:
"It's a Cracker! ... 100% Guaranteed" - MILES OF MUSIC, Studio City, California
"a cheatin’ country classic" - NOW MAGAZINE, Toronto, Ontario
" The Rizdales have always been a favorite of mine since the first time they came to Austin and sat in with me and my band at Ginny's Little Longhorn. Now that Radio Country is available, I know they'll become a favorite of yours too." - DALE WATSON, Austin, Texas
" The quintet features the killer harmonies of the husband-wife team of Tara and Tom Dunphy, who naturally deliver catchy duets like “Here I Go” and “High Heeled Homewrecker,” a couple of great new tunes that continue mapping out the territory of the honky-tonk heart." - ARTVOICE, Buffalo, New York
” Instant jukebox classics like “Baby Isn’t Mine” and “I Could Tell You Lies” ensure that Radio Country is a must-have for country music fans." - EXCLAIM MAGAZINE, Toronto, Ontario
"The Rizdales score a goal with top-notch songs of heartache and hope all to a background of well delivered honky-tonk music as smooth as Crown Royal!" – BRIAN HOFELDT, THE DERAILERS, Austin, Texas
"Highly Recommended" – HONKY TONKIN' MUSIC, Telephone, Texas
"Comparisons to Patsy Cline and Hank Williams are well deserved, but the Rizdales manage to infuse their honky-tonk sound with an infectious energy that's fresh, modern and fun. The album has a definite old-school feel, but in this case nostalgia is a good thing" - ARTSCAPE, London, Ontario
"Husband/wife duo Tom and Tara Dunphy pen poisoned valentines to each other with subtle wit and the kind of rich character writing that the genre has always excelled at." - KITCHENER-WATERLOO RECORD, Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario
ABOUT RADIO COUNTRY:
Tara and Tom Dunphy of the Rizdales are a happily married couple, really they are, but you'd never know it from the heartbreaking stories of addiction, infidelity, loss, and longing they've penned for their latest release, Radio Country.
Formed in London, based in Toronto, Ontario, the Rizdales have been performing their highly infectious brand of roots rock infused country to enthusiastic crowds since early 2003. Their latest release shows us why the folks keep coming back for more. On Radio Country, available Oct.22, 2007, the band once again takes us on a wondrous journey from barroom to bedroom to courtroom. How is it that these musical snapshots of relationships gone bad can make us feel so damn good?
Haven’t yet heard the Rizdales? Sounds kinda like Elvis Costello and Patsy Cline fronting the Buckaroos with Nick Lowe at the board. As vocalists go, Tom and Tara’s voices couldn’t be any less alike, each one unique and conveying such brutal honesty, as though they've lived each and every line of the sad songs they sing. Together, their voices meld to create the beautiful and distinct harmonies that truly define the Rizdales sound.
On Radio Country you’ll also hear Tom on guitar and Tara on fiddle, along with fellow band members Rob Clarke on bass, Mark Duff on drums and Brad ‘Shyboy’ Keogan on electric guitar.
On this outing, the band invited pals Jerry Fletcher (pedal steel guitar) and Michael ‘Slipnote’ Bonnell (piano, accordion) along to join in on the fun.
So crack open a cold one, put your feet up, and remember, this ain’t country radio folks … this is RADIO COUNTRY.
