The Oaks may have gone dormant in the fall of 2008 but the music lives on! The XSXSW OAKS Sunday Showcase previously hosted at The Oaks in 2006, 2007 and 2008 (Deb Fleming and Steve Dean, Proprietors) and prior to that for numerous years at Under The Sun (Steve Dean, Proprietor) on S Congress moves this year to Nutty Brown Cafe in southwest Austin/Oak Hill at 12225 Hwy 290W (a short drive past the Hwy 71/Hwy 290 'Y' in Oak Hill). The usual suspects (i.e., line up) looks suspiciously familiar at this new host location all the way on the other side of town. Go West Young Man is the cry this year. SO head out to Nutty Brown Cafe starting at 12 noon on Sunday, March 22nd for a great line up of bands on two stages. The Oaks Stage (honoring the recently closed venue that got rave reviews and lots of repeat visitors each of the last 3 years) and the Under The Sun Stage (honoring years of roots music in the S Austin tradition held at the vintage shop by the same name and backyard area when neighbors to the Continental Club) keep the music going on Sunday, March 22nd from noon til 11pm or so. So hook up with your friends, pack up the kids and head out for a great afternoon of music, great food and cold beverages to wind down a full week of music in another local casual outdoor venue. Like we said, The Oaks may have died an unfortunate death long before it's time, but that doesn't mean the music had to follow suit!!!
