SPOONFUL

About Me

Spoonful is a rhythm and blues rock band comprising some of Melbourne's most highly regarded and most active musicians: Paul Winstanley, Kit Warhurst (Rocket Science) Andre Warhurst (Silver Night Drive) David Lord (The Rectifiers)
Well known for their capacity to cover a diversity of genres, the Spoonful repertoire includes some of the finest and most complex R & B tracks from the 60s and 70s and now their original material (featured on the new album) is gaining significant attention. Their reputation for live performances means that punters always expect a highly charged performance and they always get it. Most times, they get a whole lot more.Spoonful's first album was a live recording: "Spoonful: Live at the Clifton Hill Hotel". Their latest album "Shake" was recorded at Eastern Bloc Studios with Jonathan Burnside and was released in June, 2006. "And then there's the surprise you were looking for. Melbourne's Spoonful, with Rocket Science's Kit Warhurst on drums, are mining a fine retro lode of British blues/soul of the 60's. Throw in some Booker T or Georgie Fame organ, among the Cream overtones and a suitably epileptic version of The Stones' version of Buddy Holly's Not Fade Away, and this is the band to get bad-dancingly maggot to."
