Rudely Interrupted are one of Australia’s truly unique independent rock acts. Based in Melbourne, 5 out of the 6 members share a range of both physical and intellectual disabilities (Blindness, Deafness, Aspergers, Autism and Down Syndrome) but most importantly, a common interest in self expression through music. Their achievements, both personal and professional to date are extraordinary. “We are here to challenge peoples thoughts on disability”
“Don’t Break My Heart” was their first song and video, the inspiration for which came from a simple discussion between Rohan and Rory over a universal question: "can you die from a broken heart"
Rudely Interrupted whose music has been hailed by the critics as ‘some of the most energetic and genuine to emerge from the Australian rock ‘n’ roll underground’ recently played to a prestigious audience at the UN's global headquarters in New York to mark International Day of Persons Living with a Disability on December 3, 2008.
Since their first live performance in 2007 the Rudies have captured the hearts and minds of thousands across the globe. Touring with the mainstream Laneway Music Festival playing alongside their peers and including a solo headline tour they went on to WOW audiences the world over. The invitation to perform at the United Nations allowed them to play sold out shows in NYC, Toronto, Bristol, Manchester and London leaving all who see the band perform speechless, amazed and ultimately inspired. Importantly the band have been accepted by the music community and the broader communities proving their perceived weakness is actually a strength. They are now officially cool! They even met Tom Cruise.
Bright future, with an album currently being recorded (Tragedy of the Commons), a rock documentary film of the United Nations tour and confirmed shows in the USA 2010 for the very prestigious VSA arts festival (Kennedy Centre) in Washington DC, the next 18 months are extremely exciting for the band and their growing fan base and passionate supporters.

OK, BUT ARE THE SONGS REALLY THAT GOOD? With a recoded output of only four songs, Rudely Interrupted manage to out-anthem The Killers, while injecting disaffected confidence into their tunes. Leadoff single “Don’t Break My Heart” is all hook, while “In Our Dreams” captures the casual power of the Foo Fighters and “My Only Wish” marries a chugging groove with ’80s dream-pop production. But it’s “Green Lights” where the sightless Burnside expresses an extraordinary fascination with colours, in lyrics set to a soaring, REM-style melody that’s full of hope.

"Every artist has a selling point, from Pete Doherty (smackhead) to 50 Cent (bullet-proof) and even Train (blandness). What separates them from the William Hung’s of this world is that their shtick does not outweigh their abilities as artists. Melbourne’s Rudely Interrupted, a band whose members suffer from a range of intellectual disabilities, play a brand of Killers-esque pop is so catchy that you quickly leave your preconceptions at the door. You may also start to question your own potential in life".
Rudely Interrupted are here to challenge the way people think about disability and have been seen and heard all over Australia on TV, radio and on tour. So with an ever increasing army of fans and passionate supporters, Rudely Interrupted are taking it to the world stage playing shows in New York, London, Manchester, Bristol in December 2008.

"Although they were only added to the bill late in the game, Melbourne six-piece Rudely Interrupted have emerged as one of the most anticipated bands to play Laneway Festival. They stand apart from their peers; not because of the intellectual disabilities from which they all suffer, but because their music is some of the most energetic and genuine to emerge from the Australian rock & roll underground in recent times. Their songs lift the band above the realm of novelty and give them a cultural cache in the image-obsessed world of indie rock".

Sounds Like: With a sound likened to Joy Division having a Gary Numan party while eating pitch perfect cookies, this band will challenge your thoughts and entertain your mind.
