Our 1st Wedding Anniversary has just gone and we're an old married couple now and still on our honeymoon.
We first met 8 years ago and have kept in touch thanks to our occupation as housekeepers . Chris has 5 grandkids to 2 sons after marrying when she was young so he has one instant family. Lemmy or Leigh as he was known before 1982 moved to Melbourne in 1964 where his best mate at school was Jack Levi of Elliot Goblet fame. In 1969 he met William Shatner of Star Trek Fame in Tasmania on a promo tour hence his love of Sci-Fi and a fellow music fanatic at a ten pin bowling alley in Melbourne.His name was Ian Simpson or Simmo for short and he got him into SABBATH,ZEPPELIN & PURPLE(Ritchie Blackmore)his fave all time guitarist not long after there meeting. Simmo used to go with him to all those BUFFALO gigs and SUPERNAUT,TEXAS & HUSH etc.they both got into STATUS QUO in 1972 and saw them for the very first time in 1973. Leigh even ran the official Australian fan club for a short time from 1978.. They both became huge UFO fans in 1975 when they first heard MICHAEL SCHENKER with Lights Out,Obsession & Strangers In The Night(all awesome albums) and then found Pipe Imported records where they met Daniel who got them into SCORPIONS(Lonesome Crow feat a very young 16 yr old Schenker) They both saw ROSE TATTOO and KEVIN BORICH in 1976 and with SWEET JAYNE in 1978 saw them all at the Station Hotel in Prahran for the very first time and simply loved them.In 1974 they saw SABBATH and in 76 RAINBOW( TWICE). They lived together for a short time in 1978 when the all girl band SWEET JAYNE started which featured CRIS BONACCI on lead guitar who later joined GIRLSCHOOL and CHRIS SCHERI the lead singer and flautist and in 4 and a half years saw them over 300 times between them.They were the very first band he filmed in Oct 1981 with one of the very first Sony Beta Video Cameras which had the very heavy Portapak.He actually filmed them 22 times which was amazing for that time and if he had the technology of today visually it would have been amazing with the new digital cameras(see Blog).Also in 1978 he saw a band called EVEREST which later became SARACEN(from Perth)and featured JOHN MEYER(who later played with CHAIN & ROSE TATTOO),JOHN RYDER and PETER THOMPSON & they played some brilliant gigs with HEAVEN in 1982 and released their debut LP in 1986.In 1981 Lemmy met Greta at the original
METAL FOR MELBOURNE shop at PRINCES BRIDGE STATION where Federation Square is now.He then started filming bands from Melbourne(SEE THE NEW BLOG) with IONDRIVE,BLACKJACK,AXATAK,TYRUS,PROWLER(who later changed their name to TARAMIS),RENEGADE,SAS,TAIPAN,HERESY(WHO BECAME NOTHING SACRED)ANGELICA(Formerly IONDRIVE) and LIGHTNING ROCK(SYDNEY)MASS CONFUSION,DARKCIDE,STALLION,STINGRAY,(Formerly VULTURE)WOLF,INTRUDER,SEAWOLF,GRAYWOLF,NICE BOYS(MEMBERS of SCRIPTURE & STINGRAY)
BENGAL TIGERS,STINGRAY,SLAUGHTERHOUSE,CROSS MEMBER,NO REMORSE,MANDRAKE GARDEN,PROPHECY,ANGEL WHITE,Trillion Lietz and SARACEN from PERTH. In 1983 he travelled to Adelaide from Melbourne to see ALMOST HUMAN(21 times and filmed them afew times)).TRAITOR,NO CLASS,TITAN & BOMBER.(and filmed them as well) In 84/85 he lived mainly in Gawler(Adelaide)where he met John the Beast from ESCAPE. He has been back in Melb since mid 85 and he was responsible for filming 3 'Metal for Melbourne's'. He was one of the first music video collectors and from the day he bought his first VCR in March 1980 he was taping stacks of music shows such as Nightmoves,Sounds etc.And he still is collecting with DEEP PURPLE a priority.In 1987 he first saw Phil Para and 21 years later goes to his gigs every Saturday at the ESPY in St Kilda.In 1994 he filmed Billy Thorpe & The Aztecs at the Sydney Myer Music Bowl which is the last time he played with that line-up performing a whole show. In 1996 Lemmy had the pleasure of seeing JULIA DARLING for the first time so have a look in my friends and you will understand why so have a look and listen. Also in the same year he saw NAT ALLISON & 11 yrs later they are two of his favourite artists ever(also see amongst our friends). In 1988 The greatest concept album was released - OPERATION MINDCRIME by QUEENSRYCHE and he was introduced to his penfriend in NEW YORK, Dennis, who introduced him to SHOW-YA(Japanese All Girl Rock Band). In 1990 he was able to go and visit him in N.Y.Also.Lemmy was the first person in Melb., to headbang to AIRBOURNE on March 4th 2005 at the Green Room in Melbourne. We both LOVE music and seeing LIVE bands. Lemmy Airguitars at the Espy and vocals with the Phil Para Band almost every Saturday, between 6.00pm and 9.00pm.
