Chess Dad

Everybody's got to wonder what's the matter with this cruel world today

About Me

It has been my honor to introduce quite a few kids to the game of chess at the local elementary school chess club, including my son, and my pleasure to support local chess tournaments. I retired in 1999 and divorced in 2005. I got the house, the car, and the kids; but have to let their mother visit them here. Parenting is challenging. I'm not as conscientious as I should be about chores. I don't set the best of examples, and I procrastinate. I am proud of how much things have improved since the days of the big mess. I want to have an open house BBQ party with an ice chest of beer in the backyard some Saturday afternoon, just to celebrate the functionality of being able to do so. I've got a lot of people to invite just so they can see it with their own eyes that we did get cleaned up. But we haven't, yet. The to-do list is not out of biggies. Unfortunately, I go off-task easily, for example MySpace. I've got a little veggie garden going on, with sunflowers in containers in the backyard, where I putter. I've been fasting about three days a week lately. 43 pounds are gone so far, 57 more to go in 2007. Do you want to lose weight? My method is simple: stop eating! I was never able to count calories, but I can count to zero. I can run a 5K in 35 minutes now, and do so every other day on the hike & bike trail.
