You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows B.Dylan

About Me

I was raised in Illinois, roamed around some while aging (NOT growing up, NOT, NOT, NOT!)...have lived in NYC, Florida, toured the USA in a VW Van Hippy Fantasy Traveling Wonderment Show with 2 babies, settled in Boulder, Co. in 1973 for a few years... pausing the journey (been rooted 25 years or so)here in Arizona. Grew three sons here. I, my dog Taylor, and 5 hens share a small property and feel at ease for now...continuing to learn and grow, practicing being in each Now moment with as much awareness as possible ...Isn't that the Way?

DANDELION: offers abundant good wishes! It is highly nutritive, tones the bodies organs and passages, and stimulates the pancreas, spleen and kidneys. The urinary system and liver benefit greatly from dandelion. This wonder-full plant is also associated with spirit calling , divination and weather magic. Nurture your dandelion! Fresh tincture or decoction(tea)is preferred. Raw young leaves are good in salads, older leaves are more medicinal. All plant parts can be used.
HOREHOUND: ...has been in medicinal use since the time of the Pharaohs. For coughs, as a strong tea;or, using fresh plant, with honey and a little Osha added for greater effect, boiled slowly until thick for a cough syrup.Horehound brings clarity to the aura. It is an herb of mental and emotional creativity. One of my favorite plants.
AHHH, beautiful energy of lavender. Widely used as a tea for stomachache, especially in babies.Use the flowers. Also excellent for alleviating gas or acid indigestion in adults. It is an herb of love, joy, peace, and long life. Lavender eases stress headaches, nervous exhaustion and insomnia. Drop some of the essential oil in a warm bath before bed, and dream of a clear path on which blessings flow.Crush some of the dried flowers and add to the batter of cakes & breads.
BORAGE:A useful remedy if home-grown and fresh. Use as a remedy for fever,if needed, taken warm, not hot.The strained clean tea is a good eyewash for dust and wind irritation. Sometimes used in combination with lavender for colic in babies.Borage is a gladdening herb, offering vitality, courage, and cheer during challenge. It is used as a bath herb for sore muscles. Used as a tea or amulet, or smoked, may enhance psychic ability.
White sage is closely related to our garden sage. Used as a smudge, it can clear the air of intrusive or negative influences, & purify ceremonial objects & spaces. Can be used powdered or as a tea wash for skin infections.

Do not confuse the above sagebrush, an artemisia, with the aforementioned white sage, a salvia. They are two entirely different plants. The above pictured shrub is the sagebrush which covers a large part of the high desert West. Although generally regarded as toxic, most artemesia species have been used medicinally from the time of the prehistoric Anasazis until the present. The common sagebrush has as it's most profound attribute, a highly microstatic quality, used frequently as a first aid, disinfectant and cleansing wash. Even more than Juniper, Sagebrush is the old respected sweat lodge plant for ritual and spiritual purification of the body.I keep one as a plant ally in my yard. It transports me to an ancient pre-Columbian site North of here where I feel great peace and home-space.

Mystic Heart by daniel b. holeman

"Every part of this soil is sacred in the estimation of my people. Every hillside, every valley, every plain and grove, has been hallowed by some sad or happy event in days long vanished. Even the rocks, which seem to be dumb and dead as they swelter in the sun along the silent shore, thrill with memories of stirring events connected with the lives of my people..."-Suquamish Chief See-Yahtlh (Seattle), 1854

THE BEAR FACTS Global warming is threatening polar bears with extinction, due to the fact that warmer temperatures are melting the sea ice the bears rely on.

The whole world is in our hands--the outcome and existence of life will be determined by our actions. This is your opportunity to make the Earth a better place. Are we up to the challenge? What legacy will we pass on to our children?

I'd like to meet:

People who value the search for their authentic self...those patiently in search of the missing piece, knowing that it IS somewhere... honesty and integrity matter to me...I would love to meet more of you who are plant people, healers, spiritually motivated...those who wonder as they wander...explorers, adventurers, shamans, artists, poets, writers...fearless people, ready to soar...& of course, the perfect partner to dance softly by my side, loving and laughing, into and through the final chapter...Ya!

This is a gathering of Lovers. In this gathering there is no high, no low, no smart, no ignorant, no special assembly, no grand discourse, no proper schooling required. There is no master, no disciple. This gathering is more like a drunken party, full of tricksters, fools, mad men and mad women. This is a gathering of Lovers. ~ Rumi

Tibetans believe that every person whose heart is moved by love and compassion, who deeply and sincerely act for the benefit of others without concern for fame, profit, social position, or recognition expresses the activity of Chenrezig. Love and compassion are the true signs revealing the presence of Chenrezig.Compassion is the most important religious practice. For Tibetan Buddhists, compassion is sensitivity to the sufferings of others and attempt to relieve suffering. It is the realization that we (human beings, animals, and the earth itself) are all interconnected. The Buddha is an example of compassion, for he taught human beings the way to freedom.

Music:

I love all kinds of music! Music protected me as I walked through times when the fire was HOT...I was singed but not burned. Music has kept me sane while drifting through seas of insanity...I see and honor the veil. Music has rocked me and rolled me....comforted and soothed me. I am grateful for my lifelong friend, MUSIC! I love folk music, old rock... OK, rock like James Taylor! SMILE..., alternative, Indie, some classical, especially Chopin, chanting, especially Krishna Das...Currrently hung up on a young woman singer, Dar Williams & a young pianist, Chris Clarke (he is inspired!)...Julia Forham, Ani Defranco, Jewel,Peter Kater, Sting, Cheryl Wheeler...etc. for now...
