Blackened (Formerly Delirium) is a Thrash Metal band from Mississauga, Ontario. Formed in early 2006 when Lead vocalist and Lead Guitarist, Michael Ellero, and Drummer Michael Sigismondo were all that remained of their first band. With the need for a new band, they went in search of 2 new members. To their luck they made friends with former guitarist Collin Daley who knew of a bassist looking for a band. With all memebers having similar tastes in music, being influenced by bands such as Metallica, Megadeth, and Slayer to name a few, they had great chemistry at the very first practice, beginning to write agressive, Old School Thrash Metal riffs. They knew this would be the beginning of a new and better band, a band they called Delirium.
After a year of being a band, writing a few songs, and playing many shows, Collin daley departed from the band for personal issues. This brought about yet another search. This search was short lived as Steve May was acquired to become the new guitarist. Now with another guitarist to keep the band together, Delirium began to play more shows. These shows would only get better as they would play at bigger venues, such as The Kathedral and the Opera House, and play along side many more great bands from the GTA. In late 2007 Delirium would go into the studios to record their first EP "Thrash or Die". Thrash or Die would include their most agressive songs yet and would also become the beginning of a new chapter in Delirium history. Prior to the release of Thrash or Die, Delirium and Steve May would part ways, thus leaving another search for a permanent guitarist. This search would come to a close after just a few days when good friend Matt Zirnhelt was asked if he would like to come out to a practice with Delirium. Proving to be a great player, as well as a perfect match in terms of musical inspiration, Delirium would agree on having Matt Zirnhelt as its newest member.
With the acquisiton of a new guitarist, Delirium would release their Demo "Thrash or Die" in January of 2008. But they would not release it under the name Delirium, instead, they would release it under the new name Blackened. Blackened is a Thrash band on the rise in the GTA. With a growing fan base, Blackened is doing anything it takes to make their name well known in the metal scene around the world.
