Derived from Greek words eikon (icon or image) and klao (break or destroy)
They have a purpose and it's simple: No gimicks, no bullshit, just heavy FUCKING metal straight out of the Rocky Mountains. Claiming influence from old school heavy metal, thrash, death metal, and even classical they write songs meant to be cranked up to "11". Prepare yourself for the new breed......................
"I don't know what to tell you... when it comes to our live sets, we're just fucking brutal! I swear to god we try to headbang our fuckin' skull right onto the floor. We're a metal band first and foremost. I don't think we're a death metal band, but I guess it takes a truely violent breed to enjoy our music. More and more we're finding ourselves in a vein of 'melodic thrash/death' whatever that might mean. Let's just call it Orchestrated Brutality © Come out and see it for yourselves."
Since the band formed in 2005, Iconocaust has undergone many changes. What was then an idea for a new sound in heavy metal has progressed and evolved significantly in the time since. Their sound has grown steadily more technical and brutal while building on a melodic foundation that will begin to truely step foreward for the first time with their upcoming 3rd release later this year....
The band first took their music to the studio for their debut release, The Natural Evolution of Metal in the fall of 2005. The band then put together a Production/Promotion company called Metal Evolution to help with the release of the album. The concept was simple... local bands working together for a scene that was united, not divided. Several bands are permanent members and many more are part of the team. Looking for a second guitarist was eventually put second to writing new music, and the band continued on it's course to complete it's sophomore independent release. The fall of 2006 saw Iconocaust in the studio once again. This time they teamed up with Dave Otero of Cephalic Carnage and Relapse fame for The Reckoning of Man (Spring 2007).
Iconocaust will be writing tons of new music to prepare for a new release in 2008. Soon after, the road......... Touring for D.I.Y. bands is difficult and expensive. Please help out however you can. Buy merch or make a donation w/the option below and help us to keep bringing the metal!!! At $3 or more a gallon, gas is killer.... Each time we earn up enough money to tour we will travel in a different direction, giving everyone the chance to see us!
Thanks! Stay METAL!
