Sanctuary

Sanctuary initially started off as an outlet for a mix of Thrash, Death & slightly Melancholic metal. Over the years of being on again off again band mates each of the members of Sanctuary gained possession on their own individual identity as musicians; through exposure to being in numerous other projects & genres we found our own sound. And somewhere in the midst of all of these side projects began us, Sanctuary.
Our first original song “Culprit in Shadows” was more concrete than any of our previous songs written in any of our previous bands, which was a wake up call for us to more or less stick together. Soon to come after Culprit in Shadows was “Black Death” & “Dawn of Mourning” which since have been edited/completely torn apart (DOM).
Now that we’ve seen what there is to offer in Canada & more specifically Toronto, we’ve become enticed by what other cultures & countries have to offer. As of the moment our direction is leaning to incorporate more of a Down-Tempo Black Metal ambience with Viking-Folk influences dominant. More or less our mission is to give Canada a Finnish/Norwegian/German band to be proud of, that isn’t from Finland, Norway or Germany but from our mighty Vinlandic Nation of Canada.
In essence we are tweaking our sound, changing our name & giving ourselves a new image. Our current play list will be off by late December to make way for new songs & new recordings. If you enjoy our music tell us, if you don’t enjoy our music also tell us, so we can kindly say “Go fuck yourself.”
