"What is Sally & Yellow?" You need to know.
Usually, somewhere between three-quarters and four-fifths of the band is Miles and Malissa. Do the math. If you figure it out, let us know.
Malissa became involved with music at a young age, singing with the choir in elementary school in Calgary. In junior high, Malissa joined the drama and musical theatre program, and stuck with it throughout high school when she and her family moved to Texas in 1997. In college, while pursuing a degree in business, Malissa auditioned for American Idol. Fortunately for Sally & Yellow, she was not accepted for the show.
Before Sally & Yellow, Miles played guitar and bass in several bands, including a punk band, a rockabilly trio, a swing jazz band and a hard-rock group. Along the way, he started recording demos, first live with a stereo tape deck, then a four-track cassette recorder. Most of them sounded pretty bad, but the music kept coming.
He began incorporating a computer into his recording a few years ago, which brings us to the present day.
The debut Sally & Yellow CD, Self-Obsessed, is a five-song EP now available in Calgary at Megatunes, 932 17th Ave. S.W.; Melodiya Records, 2523 17th Ave. S.W. Downloads are available online at the iTunes U.S. and Canada music stores (click one of the iTunes buttons) and at Kerfmusic.com . The physical CD can also be purchased online from the respectable folks at CD Baby. CLICK HERE TO ORDER THE CD .

Here's how Malissa describes S&Y:
"We're one part Rockin' Canadian, one part Electro Soul, one part Juicy Blues, and one part Sugary Pop. Put it all into a martini shaker, serve over ice and enjoy! We're like a cosmopolitan for your ears."
