Love Tara formed in Pittsburgh in the late spring of 2006. Drummer Rob Nace, and guitarist Jeff Engbarth, had been in the regional music scene together before, most recently in the band Moon to Wane. They were playing steadily at clubs and larger venues such as Chevy Amphitheater, and the Post Gazette Pavillion, sharing stages with local bands and national acts like Live, Fuel, Flickerstick and Staind. Moon to Wane also became regulars at the now defunct Nick's Fat City. Feeling the urge to move away from the alt-rock format, Jeff and Rob opted for a complete change in style and direction. Drawing from the classic influences of bands like The Sundays and Lush, while also being moved by newer acts like the Stars, they began to piece Love Tara together.
After finding vocalist Mandi Eppinger and bassist Joe Lipple, the quartet began writing. Joe would re-locate to California in early 2007, and Justin Gizzi soon joined, filling the void left on bass, and giving the band a second harmony vocal. Justin was an active musician in the scene as well, playing with several heavier bands in the area. The band later expanded to include guitarist Dan Moore, formerly of Alma, and Original Low, rounding out the present Love Tara sound.
Currently with over a dozen songs in the library of original material, Love Tara are recording and playing shows on a regular basis...stay posted!
