ABOUT CROSS-EYED WALTZ
In Cross-Eyed Waltz writer/director Peter Hearn looks at the approach of many British films, laughs, and then goes somewhere good. Come on, this filmmaking lark is meant to be fun! Described as "The League of Gentlemen, 1984 and Help! all mixed together in a way that makes Dali look like a staid realist! ", this small film had its World Premiere in Leicester Square, London, no less. Cross-Eyed Waltz, based on the unproduced Comic Book 'Ten Men' features a cast of up and coming talent, including Amber Moelter, David Bell and Gareth Wilmot (Catwoman-Copycat), Selina Giles (V for Vendetta) and Layke Anderson (X-Men 2). It has the oddness of Gilliam, plus the energy of a Roger Corman flick, a nod to Joe Dante and just that hint of early Spielberg. Phew! Cross-Eyed Waltz is a fantastical comedy revolving around a surreal town, its news network and its ‘larger than life’ lies.
Nathaniel Duke isn’t a very good Mayor, but he has been in office longer than anyone can remember. Along with a group of reporters, Duke invents the most outrageous stories and makes them everyday occurrences. When a story about a boy inheriting the Earth rears its ugly head, a couple of former reporters are drawn into their old world. It only takes five steps to inherit the Earth, but will they do whatever it takes to get the story of their lives?
