Banana Da Terra

About Me

With mostly acoustic instruments, Banana da Terra, transcends soulful and syncopated compositions. This trio integrates an understanding of late 60s and 70s Afro-Brazilian rhythms with the dynamics of todays music trends like Samba, Bossa Nova, Baiao, and MPB (Musica Popular Brasileira). This tight and colorful group brings forth a groove and feel unlike anything heard in the Southeastern area. With Jimmie Griffith, a native of Brazil, steering the crowd with his soothing Portuguese vocals and intricate finger picking. Joel Lancaster, locking in the rhythm on drums, with his distinctive colorful sound and edgy style; pushes the trio. Yet... with the feel established, the final linking groove is laid out with Tim Salt, on bass. Their musical aesthetic features a blend of rhythmical textures and melodic nuances. The Appalachian paper stated They...won over the audience and judges alike with their unique style of jazz fused with world music. Reflecting varied interests into the core of the trio sets the foundation of this unique Brazilian groove. Their style attracts a diverse audience, enticing all those who listen.
