About Me

M.A.P.P. Making A Progressive Philadelphia. ,Ideas are great arrows, but there has to be a bow. And politics is the bow of idealism." Bill Moyers,Just Do It The ACLU Freedom Files Film SeriesEvery third Thursday of the month, 7:30 p.m., free, Mugshots Coffee House, 21st St. and Fairmount Ave., RSVP to [email protected] get that uncomfortable feeling that your civil liberties are being eroded? Here's a chance to watch, learn and speak out about it.The ACLU's new Freedom Files film series features an impressive program of 10 short films about hot-button issues, each with speakers and a discussion following the screenings. Tonight's film concerns religious freedom and depicts the blurred lines between church and state from the points of view of a high school student forbidden to quote from the Bible in her yearbook and a Native American who refused to cut his hair in prison for religious reasons.Organizer Brett Mapp felt compelled to put together this social justice film series because "the subjects were very timely about the Bush administration rolling back our freedom."Upcoming topics include women's rights, drug wars, voting and the Patriot Act.—Gary M. I'd like to meet:

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has. Margaret Mead,I believe that one person, one group, and one idea can change the world or at least one city. I need help bringing about that change. I do not think rich white men should run our government hence our lives. We the people for the people is how our government should work. You can be a part of that. Let us elect a local government who cares more about the people then the $. It does cost money to run for office but more importantly you need votes. Become my friend, register to vote and lets Make A Progressive Philadelphia in 07.
