About Me

Aroop Roy is a producer, singer and multi-instrumentalist originally from the UK and now residing in Tokyo. Having started with the violin at a young age, he gradually self taught vocals, guitar, bass and keys. His music celebrates a diverse range of influences whilst maintaining a unique touch. Elements of jazz, funk , afro and latin are combined with forward thinking beats and most importantly deep and soulful vibes. He is known as one of the up and coming producers in the scene and has performed as both a musician and DJ around the world. In 2006, he was chosen to take part in the prestigious Red Bull Music Academy in Melbourne where he played and performed with amongst others the legendary Mizell Brothers. As organiser and resident DJ of absolute!! at Loop in Tokyo - Japan's first 'broken beats' party which is making a name for itself due to its fresh approach to the club scene and unique music selection, he has brought the likes of SIMBAD and SPIRITUAL SOUTH to Japan for the first time and is always striving to expose the Japanese clubbers to fresh quality music from around the globe. He has performed in Japan and overseas with a host of artists and DJs including THEO PARRISH, KARIZMA, TOSHIO MATSUURA, GILLES PETERSON, KYOTO JAZZ MASSIVE, STEVE SPACEK, BENJI-B, and joined RECLOOSE on his live tour of Japan as bass and guitar player.Having recently signed to Freestyle records, his debut single 'Too Long' is out NOW!
