The Madnus & Scogil formation is the result of the alchemy between innerstep (Natural Undergroove Resource - Mulhouse) and Kira Neris Project (Futuristica - London) as they were unsigned when they first started working and playing music together in 2001.
Madnus and Scogil have practiced music since their early childhood; Madnus singing in a children choir; Scogil playing the piano.
During the 80s, when they were kids, Scogil has been influenced by the dance music and radios whereas Madnus was more interested in electronic sounds and synthesizers.
Each of them took two important steps during the 90s: Madnus explored the "old school" blues and folk music, learning the guitar and some other instruments, and started different bands as an "excuse" to compose more than melodies. His harmonic musical work was just beginning and that’s why he entered to the Faculty of Musicology in Strasbourg.
Meanwhile, Scogil was still investigating for new music, listening to radios from all over the world and noticed the emergency of electronic music. He began compiling music samples and he also started to compose music with machines, influenced by trip-hop songs and some jazz-house artists.
Together, they compose funk-house, jazz-house, blues-house tracks, but they also work on different live projects as The Loyal Family, A.O.C. or Minus & Senile. So they played on the same line-up than Ark, Nene Cherry and some other artists.
Their major influences are Flying Lotus, Akasha, Luke Vibert, Rhythm & Sound and also Nick Drake and Maurice Ravel.
