A Few Caveats For Artists To Be Aware Of:
GOTTA SAY UPFRONT: I am extreeeeeemely picky about who I add to my roster of friends. Trust me and trust me well that if you don't know any of my top friends or, in general, similar artists to those that are "friends," then your being added will be an uphill battle. There are just way too many friend requests from artists and bands who in no way are even remotely related to what the show, as well as the music I support, is about. I'm serious about this, so save yourself the time because chances are good that your request will be ignored. On the other hand, if you really think you're a good fit, then make your case. Of course, fans of the show are always welcome. Otherwise, you've been warned. Aight?!
Next, this is not a billboard. All blatant forms of advertising in the comments section will be deleted, and so may your profile.
PLEASE NOTE: I have limited time as it is just sorting out music for the show and what not (quite a few of the labels are listed in my "Friends" section of my profile). If you're an unsigned act, you should have a pretty compelling reason why you think your music would fit the show. I generally don't have time to sample your music via MySpace. And unless I know you (and again I know quite a few of you already), I generally won't accept mp3s as a rule. Again, you might wish to listen to a few or check out the playlists before inquiring. My time is quite limited, and I have to draw the line somewhere.
Please do not send me unsolicited messages requesting that I buy your music. I will simply delete your profile...period.
If your profile is private and you send an add request, please send a Myspace message stating your case so I don't have to waste time trying to figure you out who you are. Otherwise, you probably won't be added.
To the Myspace bands (especially the numerous hip-hop acts that have tried to add me lately); unless I know you, played you on my show, or otherwise referred to you by one of my "friends" on Myspace that I trust (you know who you are), you shouldn't request to be added as a friend because chances are I probably won't (believe me, I've turned down quite a few). Just as I do with the music on my show, I have a bit of quality control to consider and, again, I just don't have a great deal of time to sift through random acts in my inbox. Otherwise, send me a note if you like the show and want to stay informed.
Thanks for your understanding.
Because some people are really pushing me, I'll soon have mixes that will be available for you to grab online.
I'm also pushing on getting out there to spin da music as a DJ-for-hire.
Music I love to spin: deep/soulful/funky house, dirty house (tech/acid/electro/combo), drum n'bass, nu-jazz, bossa/Latin/Brazilian, neo-soul, trippy/old-school hip-hop, rare funk/old school soul, the new funk stuff (of the Fort Knox Five/Switchstance/Funk Weapons variety), downtempo, and anything else with jazzy/soulful/funky/melodic vibes to taunt your rumpshaka. I'm all about soul.
Aight, holla!
