About Me

here are a few points of variable interest 'about my sad captains'

• our debut single is out now on Fortuna POP! on 7" single. it can be found in all decent record shops, ordered directly from Fortuna POP! or for those without a record player, from itunes by copying and pasting the following link http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum? playlistId=253470972&s=143444&i=253470985

• we are in The Fly magazine's New Bands 2007 tips. they say 'my sad captains have acquired a pop sensibility that should propel their slacker sound toward wider recogniton this year.' The self same publication previously referred to us as 'one of the capital's best kept secrets.'

• a new set of recordings has recently been made. They were recorded by Dan Lea(by the fireside, m craft) at his golden hum studio. They were subsequently mixed by paul hollingworth(586) and mastered at Abbey Road. more details will follow shortly

• we have sung our little hearts out right across town with the likes of Broken Family Band, Tilly and the Wall, Loney Dear, Get Cape Wear Cape Fly, Rumblestrips, and Roland Shanks

• our radio career so far amounts to a few spins by Steve Lamacq on radio 1 and BBC6 music, claire sturgess on XFM and by nic harcourt on KCRW morning becomes eclectic

• my sad captains has been described as follows;

'Slacker rock meets layered harmony-rich pop. They're ones to watch in 2007. Oh yes' (tim perry, the windmill)

'Finding their place amongst the melodic low-fi sound of bands such as Grandaddy and Pavement, and blending this with the more outlandish electronic sound of Four Tet and The Postal Service, the Captains bring us an individual sound that seems not to praise angular hair cuts and impotence-inducing tight jeans.' (IndieWorkshop)

'like calexico's poppier cousins...genuinely tuneful country tinged songs.' (the fly)

'simply sublime...american rock, touched with country lashes and occasional fiery noise outbursts. All this is backed up with brilliant songs too.' (let's go baboon)
