About Me

Jason Impey was born on the 26th February 1984 in Northampton. He became very interested in films at a young age. He used to like to watch a film, and then try and work out how it had been made. He built up a great deal of film information that he used to impress people with. He brought films constantly, and he would even spend his last bit of money on a film. He became a big fan of the horror genre, and the more gore the better. He particularly liked B movies. He liked the way that they did not follow the conventional style all Hollywood movies have, and how B movies could be very unpredictable. He loved the fact that B movies would take massive risks.
His obsession with films grew greater and greater. He knew that he wanted to be a film director, and that there is nothing else he would ever want to do. Once he had finished school he went to Bedford College. He completed a GNVQ in media which is where he met another filmmaker called Mark Lewis, who in years to come teamed up on a number of films together. He then moved on and completed a BTEC National Diploma in media. While on his first year of his BTEC he also completed an A/S in media. While studying at college he made a film for one of his assignments titled The Evil Within. This film was the first to explore the self harming demons that haunt people, a theme that would become common ground in Jason’s films.
Jason also met Matthew Verity while studying at college, and again collaborated on productions together including a music video – You Little Thief, and Jason also re-edited Matthew’s art film House on the Hill the Return for Matthew’s DVD Excape Productions season one in which Jason made the DVD. Jason also was the Director of Photography & Editor for Matthew’s horror sequel Never 2 Alone, going on to act and star in the 3rd film in the series Never 3 Alone.
Jason met Natalie Pledger while studying at Bedford College, and they shared a great interest in the film industry. Natalie was very impressed at how enthusiastic Jason was about being a film director. They teamed up and made a number of small productions, including a documentary on how media violence affects children.
J.I. Productions has been born from Jason Impey, and a number of short films with it. A short film called ‘Obsession’ was released to the world in 2004 and became very popular; it even got a screening at the ‘Festival of Fantastic Films’ in Manchester. Over the years Obsession has grown into a continuous cult short horror series that sparked a prequel called Beyond Darkness: Dave’s Story in which Jason teamed up with filmmaker Peter Watson to make. Obsession has also had two sequels wrote for it. A promo package for Obsession was put together to be put out in the industry to raise money for a feature. The promo itself was entered into a competition and came in the top 3 for best slasher film. There is now an all-new cut of this crazy horror flick – Obsession the Director’s Cut. This all new version is upon the world creating a storm. Obsession was a spin off from the self-harming theme Jason had explored and concentrated on character self break down. The lead in Obsession destroys the one thing left that he ever cared about which is the start of the characters fall.
The next short film made called Zombies in the Wood won best film at the 2 Days Later Short Film Competition and inspired Jason to make his epic zombie film titled Zombie Village. Jason was back at the 2 Days Later Short Film Competition the following year with his sequel to Zombies in the Wood titled Zombies in the Wood 2. The film had a great response and both films where played on the awards night. Jason loves the Italian cannibal and zombie movies from the late 70’s early 80’s and loves to play around with the zombie genre sending a new message in every film. The message in Zombie Village is a big statement that Jason believes strongly in, which is about abusing the environment with pollution and experimental chemicals that is extremely bad with concerning consequences.
Jason had his first TV screening of one of his shorts in 2005 with his film Tape of Horror that has been a huge success in gaining him a horror filmmaker reputation. The film is available for download from a number of websites and has been screened all across the UK. Jason now has a great deal of his work screened on Propeller TV and MTV Flux.
Jason went on to make another epic short film in the summer of 2005 titled Nightmare in the Woods. This film was put together with his earlier Zombie Village to create his first feature titled Woods of Terror! SRS Cinema has distributed this film for DVD retail.
After Woods of Terror! Jason made his first Super 8 film titled Mind of a Killer that was screened at the Cambridge Super 8 festival with a Q & A by Jason himself.. He then went and returned to the zombie genre, this time making a stop motion zombie film titled Zombie Infest. Once these were complete he moved on and spent 3 months making his second feature film Sick Bastard, in which he collaborated with all his old cast and crew from old productions he had made, with some new faces popping up to. This film is now available in a DVD 6 horror film pack titled Sinister Souls distributed by Pendulum Pictures.
Natalie Pledger made a film titled Conscience which Jason wrote and starred in. This film has been put together with 7 of Jason’s shorts and Mark Lewis’s The Long Hall, which Jason produced to create his third feature film, Tales of Horror AKA Tales of Terror, which has been distributed by SRS cinema. Natalie also made her second short of 2006 titled Zombie Hunters that again Jason starred in and produced with Natalie, this was screened at the 2 Days Later Short Film Competition 2006. Jason has put this film along with Matthew Verity’s Never 2 Alone and several of his own shorts to create his other feature film Tales of Terror 2.
In the summer of 2006 Jason embarked on a crazy journey which was the production of his fourth feature film, Home Made. This is an all new style of horror film from Jason that looks at the snuff genre and an obsessive horror film director that loses his grip on reality. Jason collaborated with new contacts and friends as well as old familiar faces, and this is his most ambitious film to date. It has been distributed by Brain Damage Films (Maxim Media International).
Jason has gone on to make a sequel to Home Made – Home Made 2 The Footage in which he returns to his original idea of Home Made, which was to create the ultimate fake snuff film.
After the Home Made madness Jason teamed up with fellow filmmaker Kemal Yildirm to create his super 8 masterpiece short Revenge of the Dead, which is one of his most controversial and shocking film to date. This film deals with sexual transmitted diseases using the zombie genre that Jason was so excited to return back to. Jason has managed to get representation by Terror4Fun for this unique film.
He then moved on to make his Dogme 95 feature film Troubled starring Nick Stoppani and Julie Gilmour, which was a very unique film for Jason, but still focuses on mental illness, but with a more dramatic approach to the subject matter. This film was premiered at Cine World Milton Keynes on 10th September 2007.
Jason has also gone on to complete his lesbian 16mm short Lust starring Jenny Newland and he also made a romantic art film titled The Bridge, again stepping away from the horror genre he is so renowned for.
He then went on to co-make the short film Demon Scroll with Kemal Yildirim starring Rami Hilmi and Julie Gilmour. This time dealing with fantasy action - new territory for Jason, once Demon Scroll was complete Jason made a very interesting pilot action adventure show titled Doug Hanson, a new breed of super hero who has to do battle with the creatures of the night.
Jason then embarked on the Exploitation project with Kemal Yildirim in which Kemal and Jason each made an exploitation feature – Kemal’s being Penance a Giallo movie in which Jason is Director of Photography. Jason has made an epic Tortured – AKA Sex Slave that is a very challenging movie and Jason’s most explicit movie ever! This film is a rape and revenge film in the traditional style of the late 70’s early 80’s Italian cinema mixing it with the zombie genre as well to make the ultimate Grindhouse movie.
