HOME TAPING IS MAKING MUSIC

About Me

Home Taping is Making Music
A long time ago, three friends with too much time on their hands began making music as a hobby. This is all it ever was. Nothing was released, no demos were made, no gigs were booked, no songs rehearsed and no promotion attempted. The line up? Matty = singer, writer of most songs and the usual strummer. Ben = guitar's equivilent of Les Dawson's piano. Craig= drums and anything else that the others would let him play. All 3 improvised, all 3 ad-libbed and all 3 used any instrument that was in the room at the time.Don't be afraid... It's only a hobby.
And then what? Pretend that we really exist, as loads of different bands?Yeah, why not.
Each of these bands are meant to have their own style but probably don't. All of them make up the Future Underground collective.
Low Slung Guitars

Thanks to Randy Sandals and The moist Review, I've managed to get a whole heap of stuff available for download, if anyone would like to hear far too much Future Underground music then click on the link below. Each file has about 30 mins of music in a zipped file, each zipped file should take about 4 mins for you to download. At the moment there are about four hours worth of stuff up there.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: This page
Band Members: Matty, Ben and Craig were the original members. Anyone who came to Bark Walk, Elston Walk or Clarendon Street in Hulme Manchester for a cup of tea, also did their bit... Sam, Liz, Margaret, Pete, Mark, Vin, Nick, Fergus, Donna and later Tom and Zep too.Oh, and I suppose I should say that I'm in a new(ish) band at the moment. You can find me here. The Rise and Fall of the Rockets
And here we have it, the Knights of Shite. At the moment this page is very limited as I don't have that many songs on tape. I am waiting for a more full-blooded member of the Knights to take over the responsibilities. The Knights of Shite

And now for something non-musical.
Post a Joke
This is not a music page. It is an idea that has not done well. I like reading/hearing jokes, so the idea behind this page is that I'd get jokes sent to me instead of comments. Obviously this would make me laugh. End of concept.
Influences: At last!!
I'd love to thank Paul (from Chorlton) who gave me the technology to convert my old cassettes into MP3s. According to iTunes, I now have three and a half hours of random shite. When I'm done, we could be at about 6 hours.
Sounds Like: Anything that it wants to. There was a time when it edged towards Space-Country, but there were times when it sounded like incidental music for films, reggae, or simply tired boys who had been up all night. It has sounded like rock, it's sounded broken, or as though it's been made up on the spot. It sounds like an accident.

Music For Pleasure
or perhaps it sounds like a car crash in slow motion? An explosion, an implosion? It doesn't really matter though, it sounds like we enjoyed ourselves and managed to fill another tricky evening with something to do.
Record Label: None. But 'Music For Pleasure' would be ideal.
Type of Label: None

A glowing review

What can I say? The Moist Review have been so kind as to listen, encourage and review our stuff. It is indeed a review and it's also very moist, almost to the point of the Gush (see Chris Morris/The D...

Original tape covers

I've just scanned and uploaded the covers for the first 2 tapes that we made.  You can clearly see the creases where they were folded to fit into the plastic box.  You can find them in the '...

More odds and sods

Well, that's a few more odds and sods converted to MP3.  Now up at the 4shared page.  There are a few others that are probably better but I mistakenly converted them to .wav which take up to...

The Track listing for anyone who downloads the ’albums’

I was going to put a track list up because these first two 'albums' had a very definite order, but then I thought that perhaps you'd like to make your own.  I now realise that to create your...

Stardust Shootout

I can picture the scene: Matty, Ben, myself and Pete were sitting around in the Clarendon Street front room.  This was all live without any overdubs so I've played it back a couple of times to tr...

Enough people have kindly commented on this being one of our best tunes.  It is time to explain... Following a late night session of recording; Matty must have either gone home or crashed in the ...

New (old) Stuff Soon! (hopefully)

At last! I think I've aquired the technology to convert casettes into MP3s.  Experiments will begin this weekend and hopefully (with luck and a marginal outlay for cables etc) I will be able to p...

Some explanation

Low Slung Guitars?  This is a very reclusive group.  They refuse to ever come out until at least Cocktail Hour, so that they can get smashed on cheap cider and create such an irritation (by ...
