THE ARTIST:
Victoria Byers is the mastermind behind Holy Whores. A multi-tasking writer, composer, performance artist, vocalist, guitarist and synth keyboardist, she has been a fixture on the thriving underground LA club scene since the early 90's, when she launched a mind-blowing series of live music and performance art mythology-theme parties in the Silverlake area, collectively known as The Big Bang.
Incorporating such diverse subcultures as neo-pagans, chaos magicians,
pseudo-masonic conjurers, pranksters of every stripe, rock up-and-comers, fire
twirlers, light-show gurus, nudists, costume freaks, s/m experimentalists, and true
believers, these legendary events changed the landscape of live entertainment
events, and erased the line between audience and performer.
Raugust has long been a featured performer in the LA indie scene, most
notably visible on the rock documentary Dig! about the Brian Jonestown Massacre
and the Dandy Warhols.
