Shannon Day - Bio - as taken from ArtistDirect.com

Dallas-native keyboardist Shannon Day began his musical career in the legendary Dallas neighborhood of Oak Cliff in the mid-60's, where his brother, drummer Mike Day, played in the group Liberation , featuring a 15-year-old phenom Stevie Ray Vaughan on guitar. Shannon began keyboards at 6, and at age 11 would acquire the first Minimoog synthesizer sold in Texas, as well as the prototype Helpinstill acoustic piano pickup.
As one of the pioneers of multi-keyboarding, Day would move on to playing progressive rock in Texas' larger venues. Carrying a 13-keyboard arsenal on the road at one time (including a Hammond B3, Hohner Clavinet, Kawaii upright grand, a Fender Rhodes, 2 Mellotrons, 2 Minimoogs, and assorted string machines), Day performed with dozens of Dallas' finest local artists.
Earlier acts included First State Bank, Blaze, Angel, Phrenz (in Los Angeles), Wish, Mantis, a Yes / King Crimson / Gentle Giant tribute act, and Dallas-based Non-Fiction , whose first LP was produced by Jerry Marcellino , of Michael Jackson fame.
From 1980 on kept Day busy touring and recording with Shroom Records artist Hands , Mega Records Non-Fiction , and national acts like MCA ( now Geffen ) recording artists Point Blank . Some of Day's bandmates have included bassist Chuck Rainey ( Steely Dan ), sax master Brandon Fields ( The Rippingtons ), guitarist Jimmie Macon ( Natalie Cole ), bassist Pat Kinsey ( Bloodrock ), and guitarist Dewayne Phillips ( George Jones ). Shannon has written, recorded, toured, and produced numerous rock, pop and concept album projects, jingles, and progressive music ventures in the last 35 years, and is expected to release his first solo CD sometime in 2007.
Shannon was performing with The Fugitives from 1995 until their breakup in April 2007. He is currently playing with a variety of bands around Texas, and is offering private instruction to a limited number of students. Personal info:

Texas kid (from South Oak Cliff in Dallas). Pretty much played keyboards my whole life professionally. I enjoy making people laugh, and saying what everyone else in the room is thinking, but not expressing. It rarely gets me in trouble, and causes people to relax and be themselves.I love traveling, and not touring so much anymore. Most of the Caribbean is great, Vegas is a like second home, and Europe cannot be explored enough in one lifetime. But Paris is my favorite. Amsterdam is close second.Greatest accomplishments: My 2 children (now both grown and in college) & my lovely wife. I don't know how I ever managed to be lucky enough to have the family in my life I have. My angelic Mom, my brother, my sister, my mother-in-law and extended family as well. Great folks, all of them. And my bandmates of course, old and new.As for my work, I've being able to do exactly what I've wanted to for a living for "most" of my life.

My Interests

Music, Computers, Software, Internet. Comedy, Fitness (okay, I'm just breaking into that one..) Did I say Music?

I'd like to meet:

I love meeting people. I've met so many in my 40-odd years of touring & performing. You can't really have TOO many friends, can you? MySpace is great way to network and introduce yourself to new people, or reconnect with long lost old friends. Anything that narrows the gap between people is a great thing!
I'd like to live long enough to meet and hold my grandchildren, if and when that may occur.
I've met some of the most amazing people already in my brief time on this ball. But there's always someone you meet and were glad for the experience. A great artist can touch your soul and open your eyes to what's really important. Talent aside, most everyone has some redeeming qualities. Look past the superficiality and fear, and you'll find that most people want the same things from life, rich or poor. And when you're really down and out, you will know who your closest friends are.

Music:

All kinds except rap and hard-core country. Love piano jazz, progressive, classical, smooth jazz, NU-jazz, fusion, and classic rock.

Movies:

Movies with a good storyline, especially a twist you don't see coming, smart comedies, or just action and blowing stuff up.

Television:

The Riches, MythBusters, Nip/Tuck, Dirt, House, Sopranos, Dead Like Me, Dirty Jobs, Cops, Conan, The Soup, Discovery Channel, History Channel, CNN.

Books:

Michael Crichton, Hunter S. Thompson, Kurt Vonnegut, George Carlin, Dave Barry.

Heroes:

People who can go thru this life, being kind, generous, and considerate to others, making people laugh and smile, and still accomplish goals, leaving behind part of themselves for the future to remember and enjoy. Doing the right thing, even when no one is looking. Just that...
