Biography by Thom Charnock

The Lady Sails is the most recent musical incarnation of a group of lost London adolescents. Formed by school friends in Spring 2005, they released the Rain Shades EP and Hourglass EP under the name The Winter Revolution in Summer 2007. Following recording sessions in a Welsh cottage, the band changed their name to The Lady Sails and released their debut album ‘Unplanned Days’ in February 2008.

The Lady Sails are uninterested in commercial gain and much prefer making their lo-fi recordings on two-track recorders, going busking, making home-videos, sitting on the floor, roaming the streets of London taking photos, walking in welsh hills, playing scrabble and drinking gin and dandelion and burdock. As a result they endeavor to make their music freely available in every way they can.

Reactions following the release of the new album...

Oh, lord!!.. I really like this album!! nice songs, thanks :)

I love your band. especially "shapes and shadows", "jude the obscurer" and "feet of gold"!!!

Loving the album, thanks for setting the music free.

My favorite still is Feet of Gold but whyyyy u changed ur name... :) och...

This is great listenign to the album. I love this man

Fantastic music, guys. Autumn Grace is my favorite track, but just about everything on the album is great. I admire your decision to release the album free, art deserves to not have so many restrictions. Anyway, I hope the band achieves the success they deserve

"Other comments received when the TWR classic "Black and White Rainbow was included in an online compilation album:

I liked this song. Especially when the drums come in it gets really good. the guitar is good and the vocals are great again. a song for sex

I love the VU feel to the intro of this. My favorite on the compilation

Kind of jazzy. like Californication, shot through with jazz. nice switches in rythym, and a really cool overall feel. quite chilld out, but angsty at the same time. good going.

A head shaker of a song. i was nodding along to the beat like nobody's business. this is just an all around great song.

A part that stuck out to me was 1:38 in the song because your voice sounded so pretty and it really started to pick up there. I like how this song makes me want to chill out, the vibe is really mellow. i like the guitar work here too it's a catchy epik mellow melody.
