ETHAN JAMES JACKSON

About Me

Hi, my name is Ethan James Jackson, and I am a young male from London in England, although currently I am residing in a town called Milton Keynes about an hours drive from the capital.
I have been writing poetry for ten years and have been songwriting for about five. Recently writing my second album of 15 songs which I am calling "HER NAME WAS GEORGE...MY OPEN HEART APOCOLYPSE"...of which 6 tracks are on this site.
These songs were all written on a WASHBURN Tahoe Acoustic six string guitar and also on a 16 track ZOOM but only using one track for a live recording on each, one take on each. I used a single SURE guitar microphone for recording both the vocal and guitar together.
The album explores the theme of loving someone who does not love you anymore. I believe that I have a number of great songs on this album, everyone of them lovingly crafted until I was compeltely happy with them as demos and put together in a certain way to create a nice varied feel but a certain flow to it all. I like cohesion in albums.
I did my debut gig at THE SOUND BAR in BIRMINGHAM which is the newest music venue in that area....and I would recommend anybody play there, contact Dave who promotes Humbucker on a Tuesday and Friday night. He and his friends are top lads.
Moving on from music I love the arts in general and try to explore all sides of myself as an artist.....including poetry, and soon acting.I wrote a poetry book at the same time as the album and the two are written from the same emotional cloth, basically exploring the same theme as previously explained...and I have interested from a publisher in America...so watch this space.
Going back to music, I am going to rerecord some tracks at the MR GIG studio in Bletchley as well as with a producer based in SCOTLAND to get different versions down and explore different avenues going forward. I wanna make sure that when I release the album that i've got it perfect.
So all in all everything is looking good right now, on the music side and also personally, I recently got engaged to the most amazing, interesting and often annoying woman in the world, the one and only Juste Grynte who comes from Lithuania so with music, marriage and kids in the air I am hopeful for the future, but none the less, wish me luck with this years future endeavours.
I would am still interested though to meet or communicate with anybody that is interested in listening to music, talking about music, into creating music and also wanting to work together on music projects.
I am also interested to talk to male and female vocalists, instrumentalists, songwriters, record companies, lyric writers, producers, etc. so go ahead and get in touch and drop me a line.
This has already started to work, as I am doing a side dance/hip hop project soon with COMPOSER and I have another band in the wings who are waiting for me to do some vocal stylings for them, no names to be mentioned but they in the same genre as Radiohead.Anyway, be good, love life, music and above all else live life happy.LOL and Regards MR IFUN JAXON. Poet, Songwriter, UK, MK.XXX

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: NO WEBSITE NEEDED.
Band Members: I write the lyrics, melody, play the guitar, write the music and produce it, although I am going to be soon using other producers to collaborate on my material going foward. Including a producer in SCOTLAND, MR GIG at MR GIG STUDIOS, and soon to be collaborating with COMPOSER on a side poject which will be DANCE/HIP HOP orientated and also providing vocals for a band in the RADIOHEAD genre...details will be announced going to press.
Influences: Radiohead are my main influence, OK COMPUTER forged the fire upon which my current enthusiasm was built. Without Radiohead, I would not be writing now....and again, I could say that it was hearing OASIS (I LOVE EVERY OASIS ALBUM, even the shite ones) that got me from writing poetry to thinking about singing, and then subsequently playing guitar and writing....but I LOVE ALL MUSIC and am always picking up ideas from anything I listen to. Recently I bought Adele,Ting Tings, Kate Nash, The Enemy, Radioheads In Rainbows, Duffy, new Coldplay album. Favourite tunes right now, Mercy by Duffy for the vocal delivery and Adeles Cold Shoulder because of the combination of beats and origonal vocal stylings....cant stop playing this tune over and over. I also love Foundations by Kate Nash, probably the finest pop song ever written.
THE KILLS have inspired me big time of late, so i'll be going electric next year because of them.
Music is wonderful whatever the type, origion, location, etc, etc. I just have a passion for it. It runs through my veins in an indescribeable way.
I partically love music writers who are always pushing the boundaries of what they can achieve as this is something that I am always trying to do personally. Each time I write a new song, I try to make sure that it doesnt cover the same ground as before. I am very hard on myself. If a song I write doesnt have something to offer on a high level, then it gets ditched...I am a perfectionist although my music is not perfect.
Coldplay as well are also a massive influence. A Rush Of Blood To The Head was a MASSIVE influence on me. I played that CD over and over on a walkman when I was travelling to Scotland to meet some girlfriends for a night out in Glasgow. I was on the train for 9hrs and played Rush Of Blood the whole time back to back.
Marvin Gaye had a MASSIVE impact on me vocally and I learnt loads through aquiring lots of music footage of him singing and watching OVER AND OVER documentaries about him. Oasis got me singing, Radiohead kept me going, CHRIS MARTIN got me to take vocal lessons and MARVIN GAYE showed me how I might change my vocal stylings.
But the list is endless really, ELBOW (GUY HARVERY), Bob Dylan, David Gray, Thom Yorke, Chris Martin, Kurt Cobain, John Lennon, George Harrison, Elton John, Eminen, 50 Cent, Emy Lou Harris, Dolly Parton, Keane, Marvin Gaye, Sheryl Crow, Blur, Oasis, Manic Street Preachers, Stereophonics, REM and LOADS LOADS MORE.
THANKS TO ALL OF THE ABOVE ARTISTS FOR CREATING SO MUCH CREATIVE ENERGY, MUSICAL ENTHUSIASM and THE DESIRE TO SUCCEED AND NEVER GIVE UP WITH MY WRITING. AH MEN.XXX
Sounds Like: I have been compared lyrically to Morrisey and Billy Bragg, vocally to David Byrne and Bob Dylan....but every person sees a different side to the same coin. So what to do, thats life.
Record Label: I CURRENTLY HAVE NO LABEL.
