In its 15-year history, several historic events have taken place at Spirit Rock: The Dalai Lama attended a conference here in 2000, Alice Walker spoke at the African American retreat in 2002. Vietnamese leader Thich Nhat Hahn has also taught here, as well as Ram Das, Huston Smith, Joseph Goldstein, Ruth Denison, Tsoknyi Rinpoche, Sharon Salzberg, Joanna Macy, Christopher Titmuss, Kamala Masters, Gina Sharpe, Bhante Gunaratana, Ajahn Jumnian, Stephen Batchelor, Tsultrim Allione, Noah Levine, and many others.
