About Me

This page is a tribute to one of the greatest and influencial punk bands in Florida. I am a fan who attended several of their shows in the mid to late 80's in Pensacola, Florida. It is designed to give thanks to the great music and the influence these guys made on us all. Maggot Sandwich started making noise in 1983 or '84 under the name Kaos. When it came to their attention there have been several bands by that name, they switched to Maggot Sandwich and never had the same problem. However, guitarist Vik Graham and his brother, drummer Steve Graham, have kept their monikers Vik Kaos and Steve Kaos to this day. Vik formed his own label, KML Records (S.N.O.T. - "Slaughterhouse") and released "Dead To My World" , a great 7" in 1985. Five hundred copies were made in a single pressing. The band never re-pressed the record because they thought it was crap. I disagree. While the recording quality is low and you really have to crank it up to hear anything, the songs are really good, particularly, "Everything I Touch" . This record features original singer Buzz Zerk, who later left the band under nasty circumstances. The band next set its sights on a ten-song LP, tenatively titled, "Success Pool." But during the recording session, the singer walked out and threatened to sue the rest of the band if they used any of "his" songs. The band salvaged what they could from the recording session and released the "Successpool" 7". Two thousand five hundred copies were made... 2,000 on black vinyl and 500 on green. MS returned to the studio in 1987 to record their first full length titled "Get Off The Stage" as a three piece... In 1990 they put out "Zero Tollerance" with Pat Ryder on bass... in 1993 the boys put together the "Murder War" ep and in 1997 the disc "Sleaze Factor" came out. Vik and his son now have another group on Myspace called Immaculate Deception so check them out soon...When asked what bands Maggot Sandwich has played with in the past, Vik stated..."bands that maggot sandwich has played with (that i can remember) were: bad brains, dead kennedys, adrenalin od, SNFU, straw dogs, the desendants, circle jerks, agnostic front, government issue, raw power, suicidal tendencies, vomit spots, no rules, DRI, COC, shell shock, graveyard rodeo, reality on trial, headless marines, redneck meatwagon, scaries, stark raving mad, SNOT, dispersion, the unemployed, jehovas sickness, marginal man, henry rollins, toxic reasons, workin muthas, stevie stiletto and the switchblades, no class surfers, johnny wadd, legion of decency".
