About Me

This page is dedicated to one of the most under-rated Florida punk bands of the 80's.The following info was compiled from the Sound Idea Distribution website,The Roanoke Times website, Pat Freeman (thanks for all the support), and from memory. Any additional info or pics would be greatly appreciated - send them in a message ...................................B.O.S. started in Roanoke, Virginia in 1982 by singer Tommy Housman and guitarist Doug Caldwell. The line -up at that time was Tommy Housman - vocals, Doug Caldwell - guitar, Carl Tickle - bass, and his brother Alan Tickle - drums. In 1985, Housman moved to Tampa and reformed the band with Pat Freeman, the bassist of Pagan Faith. Jack Cooke came in on guitar. In 1986, Pat's girlfriend, part-time Rat Cafeteria guitarist Lyn Thomas, joined the band. Steve Eskridge was the drummer. The 16 song Safe Neighborhood demo was recorded, and 600 copies were made. The demo sold out in two weeks! Freeman and Thomas left in 1987. Bass duties were temporarily handled by Rat Cafeteria's Jimmy McHugh. . The Blemish On Society ep - "The New Beginning" came out on Kick Boot Records in 1988. This band was a lot of fun to see live. Tommy was an awesome performer and a great drinking buddy before and after the show...hell even during! The band split up in 1989, and soon after Tommy moved to Seattle. The rumors of Tommy being dead are NOT true.
