About Me

Melisa used to be the fiddle player in Melbourne band THE RESTLESS (www.myspace.com/restlessthe), but they disbanded in May 2006.
she decided to dedicate her musical efforts to her other project, EVA POPOV TRIO. And now, two years, a birth, and a bass change later, Eva Popov's album is all ready for the world, to be launched Jan 27th at Northcote Social Club... It is a beautiful album, recorded in houses, churches and studios and lovingly engineered by the extraordinary Nick Huggins

but, meanwhile, during the down-time during which Eva was busy becoming a mother, Melisa's musical eye began to wander just a little. It fell upon the very talented songwriter, and self proclaimed hermit, DREW SUTHERLAND. Somehow, the pair of them managed to create a lovely lush EP from their respective living rooms with little but a couple of tin cans and a very, very, very long piece of string. And NOW they're heading up to NSW to make a full length reckid in a house on a mountain with some guys called Syd and Bongo.

...aaand when she's at home, (in between weeding her garden and turning up at her civilian dayjob), Mel gives violin/fiddle lessons and also makes herself available as a session musician to other bands for recording and gigs. Her growing list of credits includes Carl Pannuzzo, Deloris, Dandelion Wine, Tim Downey, Australian Fiddle Music School, Libby Langford, Sympathy 7, Hayley Clare Quintet, Damian Pitcairn, Lee Galea's short films, Jeff Samin, Alex Hallahan and more... This page is pretty much the only place you'll hear her solo stuff, (unless you bring something yummy to her house, or you pay her to play at your wedding.)
