About Me

Myspace Layouts at Pimp-My-Profile.com / Black dog

Here's a wee sample of one of my songs (Bombardier's Moon) recorded in a Paris hotel room ............................................................ ............................................................ .....and another one from a different room............................. ...............object width="425" height="350" ........The Dawgs are actually, eh...well..eh, dogs. On some of our early tracks, they accompanied my home-studio vocals with barking, not noticeable on the stereo tracks, but they're there all the same. Being doggy sentimental, Joseph and I couldn't leave them out of the band. Hence the name ..........................Me, I'm a self-schooled part-time musician/songwriter (well, mostly, but a big thanks goes to my old jazz guitar teacher Pat Naylor) and I write and record on the move as my dayjob - when I have one - requires me to be internationally moblie. A Kilmarnock native, I've lived in Lyon, Paris, Perpignan (France), London, West Sussex and Reading (England), Portugal's sunny Algarve and Milan (Italy) and I spend a fair bit of time in Belfast, N. Ireland. Now I'm back in Paris again where I spend many weekend evenings frequenting the Parisien jazz clubs, marveling at the experts on stage. Joseph, who'd lay down some expert drum tracks in Portugal to replace the sequenced rhythms I've used as my traveling drummer, has now joined me in Paris too, so now we can create rhythm in real-time! And to confuse things even more, I regularly travel on an Irish passport! Still with me? Good! ..........................Sometimes, if I turn too quickly, the pea inside my head rattles around and I come up with something folks actually like and this has resulted in a few wee accomplishments (three of the above tracks have won in major international songwriting contests and we've been finalists in more than a few). Most of our tracks were recorded in hotel rooms or apartments! I've written one song with Grammy-winner Tia Sillers and had some internet chart success and radioplay in Portugal, the UK, Northern Ireland and on the internet's Idobi Network Radio. Sony have used samples from "One on One" in their "Jim Ferrie Remix Contest" on www.acidplanet.com.......Anyway, as a writer, I'm always trying to improve my thing. Though I'd rather be writing, I can't really bitch bout the dayjob which finances this money-draining habit of mine as I reach for that movie placement, that track-of-mine-recorded-by-someone-else, that Grammy (steady now!). There's more MP3..s at our site www.studiodawgs.com or on our Broadjam.com page at www.broadjam.com/jimferrie. Thanks for listening to our stuff..................................J.................... ............................................................ .. et, bref, en francais........ ............................................................
