His mother is a opera singer that has performed all over the U.S. and Europe, and currently runs her own Archangel school for the performing arts. His father was a drummer that played with many r&b/soul groups in the 60's and 70's. He was taught by Nate Jones(the drummer for James Brown and the Famous Flames. As a child, Mike's musical abilities became very obvious. He learn how 2 play music by ear before reaching the 3rd grade. He was influenced by artist like Earth,Wind,&Fire,Zapp,P-Funk,Miles Davis, Stevie Wonder just to name a few. he also learned the bass,guitar,and piano. By the age of 14, his drum teacher asked him to become part of his jazz fusion band. By 17,Groove had his mind made up that he would be successful in rap, so he quit his high school basketball team to take over his uncle's recording studio, MIDI-Mix Audio Works. One of his hustles to get extra money that he picked up from rap-a lot artist Manchild was DJing, which he was know stranger to since he had been playing in jazz clubs since a young age. He and D.J. Twis spun at almost every venue in the city as well as throwing their own parties. He produced several cd's which sold thousands of units throughout the midwest. Lil Los would feature his production on his debut album "Hustlin'" and Koleone would form Choppin' Game Records which would become a midwest classic. Through the course of the labels career they would go on to sell over 20,000 units independently.Mike Groove has worked with artist such as Benard Wright, Billy Beck(Ohio Players) Rufus Blaq,T-Pain and The Nappy Heads,8-ball & MJG,Rap-A-Lot,Yukmouth of the Luniz,Speech from Arrestd Development, Lil Wayne. and Jeff Lorber just to name a few. He currently has a new arsenal of heat in the works,so get ready!
