About Me

Aangel (pronounced Angel ) began writing at a very young age. A Youngstown, Ohio native, he began performing at area schools, churches, and social events. It was then that he won his first award for a poetry piece and was honored at The Butler Institute Of American Art. He went on to perform and win awards throughout high school, where he continued to excel in Honors English and Black history, and was a member of the Rapper’s Roundtable, a club consisting of the schools most proficient MCs. Upon graduation he attended Y.S.U. briefly majoring in Psychology and Creative Writing. But as fate would have it, he made a life-changing move to Sacramento, California, prior to graduation. It was there in California that he was blessed with his former stage name “Archangel.” It was also in California where he began to sharpen his writing skills, delve into production, and began recording some of his early songs. Relying on a business move that brought him back to Ohio, he took piano lessons, recorded more songs, and began focusing more on song writing and production. During 2000, with the rise of the south’s popular music scene, he moved to Atlanta, Georgia. Eight months later, a fateful car accident would once again bring him back to Ohio. But things weren’t all bad. During his recovery he was able to complete and independently release his first studio project, “ The OtherSide Of Nowhere.” The indie project sold well and created a buzz, but in due time Aangel set his sights on the south again and move back to Atlanta, Georgia. He soon recruited two grade school friends and released the independent EP “ 4Ever High Presents… “ It was catchy five song EP that highlighted collaborations and solo tracks from Archangel and his friends. Due to personal endeavors, 4 Ever High was put on a hiatus and Aangel began recording his first solo album, “ I Am God “ under the name A.Angel. I Am God was a musical and spiritual album, encouraging people to tap into one’s inner self, but the title alone sparked controversy. A.Angel soon dropped the dot from his moniker, and is now recognized as Aangel. He began to move towards engineering and built his own recording facilities, while releasing two mixtapes, No Pen, No Pad, a free for all mixtape, highlighting his style of writing entirely within his own head, and The Kingsmen mixtape. He started his own digital label and media production company, Nebi’im Music. Nebi’im is Hebrew and means prophets, or literally means mouthpiece of God. He is currently working on his next studio release, a double album titled, If I Should Die, B4 I Wake, featuring the singles 3rd Street and Time Flies.
