About Me

Born April 19, 1980 in Youngstown, OH, Paul Green was always around music - his mother was an opera singer who also acts. and writes plays, and his father was a drummer with numerous Motown acts back in the 60's and 70's and had his own band at the time of his birth. He was pretty much raised on the sounds of Earth, Wind, and Fire, Stevie Wonder, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Weather Report, Steely Dan, and other bands. The other half of his upbringing, just like most musicians, was the church. His father had a band called "Word, Blood, and Power" in the 80's. They were a mix of funk, soul, gospel, and r&b. As a toddler Paul and his brother Michael would often sneak into the base ment while they were practicing even though they were supposed to be in bed. "That's when I fell in love with music. It's in my veins!" In additions to his other talents, Paul also plays bass and drums. At age 8 he was diagnosed with Tourette's Syndrome, a disease which affects the nervous system. "When people saw me, they wouldn't ask normal questions like my name and my age. They would ask 'Why you keep doin' that?' or 'why you won't stop shakin'? I was called every name in the book from Shake'ems to Stickshift! But that's what made me". Although he required no medication for it, he no longer shows any symptoms of the disease, whose afflicted are known to be very gifted and intelligent. Paul feels it was something more powerful than just him outgrowing it. "God healed me" he says. "There's no known cure for Tourette's so I know it was Him".His childhood was far more difficult than most kids because his ailment made him an outcast, but it was at age 11 when 'P.G. Thirteen' found his area of expertise -- rap. That year he, his brother, Mike Groove, and J. Walk formed Verses and began doing variety shows around the Youngstown area. They were known for having the best stage show in the city and they even got disqualified from a show because the crowd rushed the stage to party with them. When J. Walk went off to college, Verses became a family duo and continued to record as such. They also formed a dance group called Anonemis that also made noise at variety shows around the city and later linked up with Archangel Dance Theater, which was founded by his mother, Karen-Clark Green. The group toured around the country performing for festival, churches, conferences, and in front of countless dignitaries. P.G. made fans forget all about him being the biggest member of the group. "When I would go out there and start poppin' or doin' my thing, some would wonder who that big dude was rippin' it up, or they wouldn't notice it at all. And that's what makes me a triple threat."Music got him through the hardest time of his life. In November 2001 his father, Michael Green, Sr. was shot and killed after a friend he was giving a ride home was robbed by two men at gunpoint. His friend was shot 5 times and lived but Green was hit once in the leg and bled to death after the bullet hit a main artery. "He taught me everything I know about this business and about music in general. I always thought that when I finally made it to the top that he would be right there beside me and Groove but God obviously had other plans" says. P.G. His dad was a well-known musician especially in the Midwest. He was also the manager for Parliament-Funkadelic for a short time.Although P.G and Mike Groove are releasing their long-awaiting album "VZ For Short" this year, P.G. is still coming out with his debut solo album, "Blade Of Gabriel". The new album contains the hot single "Clap Ya Hands" which burned up Youngstown radio in 2005, along with the conscious record, "What My Pops Told Me" which is an ode to his father (natural and heavenly) and unveils another of P.G.'s talents -- singing. In the song he sings, Y'all niggas better wake up and see what's goin' on/once you realize who you are, do you, even if you stand alone/Sometimes you might get rejected/Whom much is given, much is expected/No time to be anything aside from me/Gotta be just what I was put here to be/". "It dawned on me probably my senior year of high school that I don't fit in anywhere". P.G. has written and arranged many songs with other indie artists such as Mark T. Jackson & Final Call, The YSU Gospel Choir, Ubnoxus, Judah E., and others and is also singin on the new release from WIN/Warner Bros. recording artists Bishop Norman L. Wagner and The Bishop's Choir, which is the choir from his church in Youngstown that he sang with for 2 years and whose album "Fresh Worship" is slated for release later this year. "God had me there for a reason. I learned a lot" says P.G. who may be writng a couple songs on the next album.God has also given him his dream girl, Shantae, whom he married May 14, 2005 after 3 years of dating. "We were long-distance for a good part of that 3 years" P.G. says. "I think it was supposed to happen that way because it built up our communication, which is vital to any relationship. A lot of these celebrities that get married just because they have the money to do it usually lack that element in their lives due to their careers and schedules. God must have meant for me and Pookie to establish that early." At the wedding, he wrote the song his bride walked down the aisle to, entitled "Above The Clouds" and serenaded her with his favorite love song, "Overjoyed" by Stevie Wonder. Needless to say, there wasn't a dry eye in the house! "I always said that when I got married I would sing that song to my wife". And he means it ,too. "She is the only one who understands me it seems. We're so much alike and we were friends before we became lovers. We were in show choir together in high school and she was my dance partner! We were right under each other's noses. I was at a point i my life where I just asked God to give me the woman He had for me because I was screwin' up making my own choices and I'm glad He did because she's everything I dreamed of and hoped for in a woman. She's phenomenal! Never thought I'd get Superwoman but I did!" P.G. wrote an a capella song called "Do It Again" just for her and is featured on the album.P.G.'s influences include Stevie Wonder, EWF, as well as Nas, Wu-Tang Clan, the Notorious B.I.G, Tupac, KRS-One, Jay-Z, J. Moss, The Clark Sisters, and Commissioned.P.G. hopes to become the next prominent triple-threat to break into the music industry and wants to be someday mentioned with the legends. This album is hot enough to put him there!Header Banner Made with MyBannerMaker.com! Click here to make your own!found this music layout at HOT FreeLayouts.com :: MyHotComments
