I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I write novels for teens and kids. I have two out for teens -- Fat Kid Rules the World and Saint Iggy. My 8 to 12 age novels are The Liberation of Gabriel King and The Garden of Eve. Check out my web site at klgoing.comOtherwise...I like music and movies, books and more books, ketchup and lots more ketchup, cats named Merry and Pippin, anything related to Kurt Cobain or Iggy Pop, people who speak their minds, guys named Dustin who make me laugh and convince me to spend hours playing WoW, chocolates with cream centers when I'm feeling up, cinnamon rolls when I'm feeling down, wine with dinner, wine without dinner, being as cool a stepmom as possible because I'm convinced step parents CAN rock if we try, anything that makes the world a better place, people who are creative, people who are kind, people who make me smile, traveling, and dreaming about future traveling to both real and imaginary lands.

My Interests

YA novels, good music, writing, travel, learning about the world, politics -- mostly getting mad and trying to change things, independent businesses. Trying new things. Supporting people who take chances.

I'd like to meet:

Teen readers. People who love good books. People who like to discuss stuff. Other writers. Libraries and librarians. Wise people. Funny people. Anyone who wants to join my --- forums --- Be Yourself. Have an Opinion. Tell the World.
Anyone who digs my new book trailer for The Garden of Eve (a novel for ages 8 to 12). Check it out below!!!

Music:

Nirvana, Iggy Pop, Iron & Wine, Hector on Stilts, Van Morrison, Oasis, Gandalf Murphy and the Slambdovian Circus, Keane, Nina Simeon, Abba, David Broza (the poetry album), Paul Simon, Sex Pistols, Ramones, David Bowie, Mad World, Harrod & Funck.

Movies:

American Beauty, LOTR, A New Dawn , Good Night and Good Luck, Trainspotting, Moulin Rouge, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, Star Wars - original trilogy, Little Miss Sunshine, About a Boy, God Grew Tired of Us

Television:

Don't watch much. Does it count that I own the complete set of Sledge Hammer episodes? Mostly I rent series on netflix so as to avoid commercials. I'm currently watching The Dead Zone.

Books:

Do I get to list my own? Fat Kid Rules the World, The Liberation of Gabriel King, Saint Iggy...Other people's: The River Why, Cold Sassy Tree, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Remembering, Trainspotting, The Vampire Lestat, Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus, River Season, Franny and Zooey, Catcher in the Rye, anything by Jack Kerouac.

Heroes:

Jimmy Carter, Edwin Murrow, anyone discerning enough to seperate fear from freedom who votes accordingly.

How important is romance?

When I was in college I was a sociology major -- not to be confused with a social work major, because these are entirely different things. A sociolgist studies people and trends, analyzing the world w...

The Blog in Which My Husband Gets Hit by a Bus

Yesterday my husband got hit by a bus. Yes, it's true, but don't worry, he's fine. He was on his way to work and the bus didn't even see him. It plowed right into his car as he was stopped at a ...
