About Me

Recently described in SPIN as "one of the cities best troubadours,” Brad Hoshaw's somber melodies and "sweet high lonesome sound" (David Dondero), have been compared to Damien Jurado, Ryan Adams and James Taylor. Growing up in the rural outskirts of Omaha, NE, at the time of the indie music uprising of Saddle Creek Records, he was equally inspired by artists as diverse as Johnny Cash & Cursive. Hoshaw began composing songs at the age of eight, first playing piano by ear, then studying alto/tenor/baritone saxophone through High School, until he eventually settled on the guitar as his instrument of choice.
A talented singer, arranger, performer, instrumentalist and "in the very top tier of Omaha singer/songwriters" (The Reader, NE), Hoshaw has stuck to a singular focus… writing genuine songs. His style has flowed seamlessly from Pop-Rock to Folk to Americana over the course of seven albums and more than twelve years of live performance experience.
Brad Hoshaw’s search for inspiration led him to relocate to Minneapolis, MN in 2002, where he quickly found a home, hosting a weekly showcase at the Kitty Cat Klub on the University of Minnesota campus. In the summer of 2005 he packed up his car and set off on his first long distance tour, leading him through Canada, the New England states, New York City, Nashville and into the Deep South. That tour ended back in Omaha and that’s where he stayed. “The biggest lesson I learned from my first tour was that I not only survived on that lonesome road, but I thrived on it!” Hoshaw remarked. Since that first tour, he has continued to travel, reaching out to new territories and building his fan base in all corners of the country.
When you see Brad Hoshaw in concert, you’ll be captured by his “very seductive voice” (Frank Black of Black Francis/the Pixies). It can bring you to tears, comfort you like an old friend or lead the entire room to raise their glasses in solidarity. His lyrics touch on the universal themes of Love, God, Destruction and Sorrow. Each of them delivered with sincerity and conviction… no word wasted or taken for granted.
Recently Hoshaw assembled a multitude of all-star musicians to become, Brad Hoshaw & the Seven Deadlies. In their short time together they have already shared the stage with American Music Club and Black Francis (Frank Black of the Pixies), received a showcase spot at the Omaha Entertainment Awards Summer Jam and have been invited to headline opening night of the inaugural Mid-American Music Festival. They are currently wrapping up their debut album, due to release this winter.
To hear his latest creations and support the completion of his full length album, check out Brad Hoshaw at one of his US appearances.
