About Me

Press:"...for fans of ambient bands like Mogwai and Radiohead as well as indie-folkies into Elliott Smith and Wilco." -Tim McMahan of Lazy I"Omaha's most intense songwriter. His empassioned performances and shivering vocals have earned him a following among fans and musicians alike." -www.micksomaha.com"[The Holidays in Spain] is a beautiful, almost-haunting textured blend of acoustic guitar, piano, and vocals." -www.somedaynever.com"He's a bit of a head scratcher in many ways. His live shows are solo with him playing guitar and channeling the guitar through a wall of effects. His songs are usually quite desperate and his arrangements have big spaces in them like they're gulping for air. He basically comes out and destroys the place and people generally stand in front of him when he plays and yell back his lyrics to him, which is even stranger when you consider that they're yelling back lyrics to songs that haven't been recorded yet. His CDs are about as opposite as everything I've described. He usually records with everything EXCEPT a guitar and builds his arrangements on musique concrete. He told me his favorite thing to do is to go around his house and record the hum from the refrigerator and other things and build songs on top of them..." ---Electric Blue"Its obvious that he has enough raw power to blow your chair over, but he holds back and floats it with such reserve that every emotion hangs shimmering in the air." -Michael Cambell at Reader MagazineInnocent was voted: Track of the Day on 12Mar2006 in Experimental Rock; Best Male Vocals in Experimental Rock, week of 6Mar2006; Best Guitars in Experimental Rock, week of 6Mar2006; Best Drums in Experimental Rock, week of 6Mar2006; Best Bass in Experimental Rock, week of 6Mar2006; Best Keyboards in Experimental Rock, week of 6Mar2006; Best Production in Experimental Rock, week of 6Mar2006; Best Lyrics in Experimental Rock, week of 6Mar2006; Best Melody in Experimental Rock, week of 6Mar2006; Best Beat in Experimental Rock, week of 6Mar2006; Best Mood in Experimental Rock, week of 6Mar2006; Feel Good Track in Experimental Rock, week of 6Mar2006; Potential Soundtrack in Experimental Rock, week of 6Mar2006 -www.garageband.com Omaha based singer/songwriter, Kyle Harvey, has been fortunate enough to share the stage with: Frank Black (of the Pixies), The Stills, Daniel Johnston, Mayday, David Mead, Eric Bachman (Archers of Loaf, Crooked Fingers), Adam Franklin (Swervedriver), David Rawlings (Gillian Welch, Bright Eyes, Ryan Adams), Matt Keating, Criteria, Guster, Son, Ambulance, The Mountain Goats, Scout Niblet, Jeffery Lewis, Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers, Mates of State, Anders Parker, Blue October, the Samples, Jonatha Brooke, Art Alexakis (Everclear), Mike Ireland, Denison Witmer, Jeff Hanson, Mason Jennings, Will Whitmore, Southerly, The Great Lake Swimmers, and Harry Manx.
