Sincere, Humble and Anointed are words that can be used to describe Donald Godbolt, also known as the "Gospel Mystro" on WQFX. He’s a saved young man from the Biloxi, Mississippi area that has many talents to share with the world; one being a dynamic musician. Music is his heart! Each day of his life, he exudes hard work and pursues excellence.
Being raised by wonderful parents, he was always taught that if he was going to do something, to do it right. He also receives guidance from Bishop James Black, overseer of the Faith Tabernacle of Praise, where he is the Minister of Music and the organist. A “5-star ministry” is what his spiritual leader desires, so if that’s what he wants then Donald feels that it is important to stay on top of his game striving for perfection.
The “Gospel Mystro” grew up in a musical household. He’s had the distinct privilege of having the late, great Dr. Mattie Moss Clark to stay in his home while in town for a weekend conducting a workshop. Even though he was young at the time, he still remembers all of the things that she talked about while being in her presence. As a member of the Church of God in Christ International Orchestra, under the leadership of the world’s greatest saxophonist, Dr. Vernard Johnson, God has favored him to develop a personal and professional relationship with him. After 15 years of working with him, Donald considers him to be his mentor. As a musician, doors have opened for Donald to display his skills as a drummer by having played for The Clark Sisters, Timothy Wright, Mint Condition and Kelly Price, to name a few. He has also MC’d many local and high-profile musicals.
“I thank God that he blessed me to have two parents that love me, but mainly loved us and music,” are words spoken by Donald concerning his parents who have entered into heavenly rest. His mother and father were a major part of his musical success and he “misses them dearly!” His loving sisters share a big part also.
The Lord has blessed Donald to birth Spiritual Gifts, which is a group of young people who love the Lord and are ready to offer music ministry in the spirit of excellence!
