Songwriter, vocalist, and producer, Isaac D. Simpson is the visionary behind Isaac Simpson & Divine Providence, also known as DP. Originally from Los Angeles, California, Simpson, who hails from generations of singers, songwriters, and entertainers, has been involved with music since childhood. At an early age, his calling was apparent. He began to conduct professional workshops and direct city-wide choirs. By the time he was twenty-six, he had conducted workshops throughout the United States, Great Britain, Caribbean Islands, and Europe sharing the stage with gospel greats such as Vicki Winans, James Moore, Marvin Sapp, Kurt Carr, and Rance Allen. Isaac Simpson has graced the stage with the late Coretta Scott-King, appearing as a special vocalist at a celebration honoring her and appeared on the Bobby Jones Gospel Hour.
While completing his Bachelor’s Degree at Miami University (of Ohio), Isaac Simpson’s driven desire to serve, praise, and worship the Lord led him to create the dynamic gospel group, Divine Providence. In 1998, Divine Providence came to fruition to give young adults an outlet to share music with the world. While listening to a sermon by Bishop George "Awesome" Dawson, the name Divine Providence became ordained and official. The name means "the instantaneous will of God."
In just one years’ time, this young energetic Central Ohio group produced an album entitled "He Loves Me," written, arranged, and produced by Simpson, this project was influenced by jazz and hip-hop. Isaac Simpson and DP’s current project, "Right Now," is an anointed infusion of genres creating, setting, and perpetuating an atmosphere conducive to miracles, signs, and wonders.
The ecstatic 29-year-old father of one son, Isaac Simpson believes that this generation will be saved through gospel music. "Gospel music is wonderful," he said. "It has the ability to transcend generations." Possessing this ability to transcend generations and to break through ethnic boundaries to unify the body of Christ is the mandate that has been placed upon Isaac Simpson’s life.
