I am a naturopathic physician in Tucson AZ. I started out pre-med at the University of Arizona in the early 90’s but soon, for many different reasons, became disillusioned with the program. I had always been interested in medicinal herbs, Chinese medicine, massage, meditation, nutrition and exercise. A good friend told me about these schools that offered medical degrees in “natural†medicine. I knew then what I wanted to do.People always ask… How do you treat this disease or that condition? What acupuncture points do you use? What supplements/botanicals do you prescribe? What homeopathic remedy is best? My answer is always the same. You have to treat the person himself or herself. What are their complaints and what are they suffering from? How does their condition affect them? You MUST treat the whole person. It is simple as that.My practice is very eclectic. I have worked with many different patients (ranging from 2 to 84 years old), with many different diseases (depression, cancer, decreased immune systems, obesity, pain management, menopause, lupus, migraines, headaches, adrenal insufficiency, anxiety, stress, addictions, etc.)While naturopathic medicine is comprised of many different modalities I specialize in acupuncture and homeopathy. I recently have begun to explore Native American healing as well with profound results. I am lucky to love what I do.
Another part of my practice involves working with patients that are HIV/AIDS positive. I work with many wonderful allopathic medical doctors in an integrated setting. Patients can seeks out regular HIV/AIDS care (pharmaceuticals, hospital care, surgery, etc) as well as alternative care - all underneath the same roof. This is really the direction that medicine must be moving towards. Both paradigms can compliment one another and work synergistically for optimal wellness.On a personal level I love to rock climb. I have been climbing for over 10 years and have traveled to various parts of the world to climb. I love all sorts of climbing – long traditional routes to harder sport climbs. I am always willing to share stories and information on the different places I know and love.
