Ask me about your health and wellness
needs! I'm a social worker who is also involved with the Amazon Herb Company which has fabulous herbal supplements and a skin renewal system ... all made from natural rainforest herbal formulas crafted by indigenous people in South America.
Some other interests are vegetarianism , desert gardening, animal rescue work , creative arts and child welfare issues .
The photo above was my paternal grandmother. The picture above hers from the early 1960s shows yours truly(in the front row wearing glasses), my mother, siblings, cousins, and other maternal relatives.
I can only touch on a few artists who come to mind, as follows. Jazz (Miles Davis, Weather Report, Branford Marsalis, Coltrane, Monk, Return to Forever, McCoy Tyner, Keith Jarrett, Airto, Jack DeJohnette, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Donald Byrd); Classical (Braham's Alto Rhapsody, Benjamin Britten's War Requiem, Mozart's Lacrimosa, Beethoven's 9th, Schubert's Trout Quintet); modern vocal singers (Bjork - that's her "Alarm Call" video about, Lauryn Hill, Phyllis Hyman, Me'shell Ndegeocello, Garbage, Chaka Khan, Sade, B-52's Flora Purim); some old school rap (Ghost Dog, Ladies 1st, White Lies, Gil Scott-Heron) and "other" musical groups like Bhangra, the Orishas, acid jazz; and a smattering of rock (Gang of Four, Nine Inch Nails, PM Dawn, Squeeze, XTC, Depeche Mode, Orb, Soundgarden, Traffic, Pearl Jam, King's X).
The musicians shown here are Flora Purim , Bjork , and Meshell Ndegeocello .
Recent movies I've enjoyed also include The Pillowbook, What the Bleep, The (1ST) Matrix, Crash, and Deconstructing Harry, to name a few. Then there is my work with Albert Nigrin , where I appeared in Echolalia. I also created a video called Double Justice (with Diann Rust-Tierney when she was with the ACLU), and a video produced at Rutgers University about gay, bi- and lesbian college students. As a visual arts grad student in NJ in the 1980's I did three autobiographical super 8 films that I need to convert into a more up to date format.
For the most part, I'd rather sit down to read or do some writing.
My heroes include Siddhartha Gautama , digital media artist Auriea Harvey , dance director and choreographer Bill T. Jones , and philosopher Dr. Adrian Piper .
Jean-Michel Basquiat is another artist I've always admired. Here's a photo of him followed by a picture and a postcard by him.
P.S. I support Barack Obama for President in 2008! Sorry Hillary...
