About Me

This page is no longer monitored by Nic Le Ban. From time to time he does update the BLOG section on this site. Always painfully real and insightful, his words will either set you free or bring out the eager masochist in each and every one of you.

Nic Le Ban collaborates and performs professionally with world reknown avant-garde artist JARBOE. Nic is non-political, a lifelong adherent of Nietzschean and Machiavellian philosophy, and known for being a consumate recluse.

Nic Le Ban is currently working on new material for Jarboe. His most recent performance was in September of 2006 at Dante's in Portland Oregon, for the final show of the Northwest leg of Jarboes' 2006 West Coast USA tour, which also included a stop in Olympia WA and in Seattle WA for the 2006 Bumbershoot Festival. Nic Le Ban has no scheduled performances at this time.

Nic Le Ban has never had anything to do with anyone claiming to represent his interests outside of or apart from his work with JARBOE.

RECENT REVIEWS

re: The Conduit ( released: June 2006 )

"A limited edition release, The Conduit is a collaboration between Jarboe and her long time collaborator, guitarist Nic Le Ban. Starting off like a cross between SunnO))) and Pink Floyd, the record veers into atmosphere territories that make use of her unique voice and Le Ban's guitars to the fullest, and make this probably her most bewitching and unsettling release to date. Jarboe, for the most part, uses spoken word, oozing a strange mixture of sex and menance, and her vocals, like on track 4, are simply stunning. A minimal piece, the 11 untitled tracks here show Jarboe at her most fascinating and this is another great document of the unique universe the ex-Swans chanteuse occupies."

re: The Men Album ( released: Oct 2005 )

"Your Virgin Martyr" the thrilling 8 minute closer for Jarboe and Nic Le Ban's vocals and guitar, treads breathtaking expressive territory... and emerges as one of the great album "closers" of all time. Simply brilliant."

re: The Conduit ( released: June 2006 )

"Le Ban's guitar work ranges from tender to all-consuming, and the tracks - "Conduit 1" through "Conduit 11" - make for a great companion disc to The Men Album, extending the aural terrain of that project into multi-part essays that seem to contain worlds within worlds."
